hello new user, but long time visitor.
Hello all.
I bought my first MINI 3 years ago. My daughter drives that one now and I have another for myself.
Mini 1 is a cooper 2005 with the CVT transmission. No problems with it yet ( knock wood) at 100,000 km. It has a cat back exhaust and K&N air filter.
Mini 2 is a cooper s 2006 with a Cold Air Intake ( Madness ) shock tower braces (M7) but no cat back yet.
I replaced the stock speakers on both cars. Mini 1 has Cliff Designs all around as I found a killer deal. Mini 2 has Pioneers all around. The pioneers have amazing bass with no sub woofer. Stock head units on both. I used B-quiet on both cars in the doors, rear floor, and rear body panels inside and around the rear speaker enclosures.
I installed a GROM ipod interface on MINI 1 as it had none. Worked really well. MINI 2 had a factory Ipod and I did not like it so it is now a GROM too.
I have done all the mods noted myself, but all service is done by a local MINI dealer. I have two in my area. One is extraordinary.
I guess that's all for now.
cheers.

Hi, thanks for greetings.
My daughter has some really good pictures I will see If I can get some from her. She is a very good photographer.
The Speakers are invisible behind the stock grills. Both the cliffs and the pioneers sound much better than stock. The front pioneers are TS a1702c 6.75" diameter. The rears are TS d6902r. Amazing Bass down to about 30 hz. Actually the total cone area is greater than a 12" sub, so I don't need one.
I should have taken photos of the front install. I took the stock speakers cut out all the guts and made them into mounting rings for the pioneers. Fit perfectly.
The next and probably last audio thing will be a new amp piggybacked onto the stock head unit.
Yesterday I took the Cooper in to get the rear brakes done. It made me really appreciate the S. Neither of my girls can drive manual shift, and I don't understand why the don't want to learn. Of course that keeps their hands off the fast one.
I think the CVT could be really cool if it could be reprogrammed. As an engineer I like mechanical elegance of the idea. But I can tell the Bavarians who programmed it had other priorities. Oh well.
cheers.
