Should I be worried? Waiting on shipping...

Hello all. I placed my order on March 15th and it sailed through production by the 28th, but now, and for the last week, my MINI has been sitting at the port, waiting on a shipping vessel, while everyone in my week's thread has already shipped out. I have contacted my MA and AskMini many times, but no one knows anything... except that it's apparently at the dock, overseas waiting on shipping. I believe I've heard here that sometimes MINI's are damaged and this will delay their arrival, but I'm not sure which side of the ocean that's on...

Anyway, I'm beginning to worry that my MINI has been damaged, or lost (can that happen??) or otherwise compromised (driven into the ocean, etc). Anyone have any reassuring words or cautionary tales to share?

Thanks!!

I wouldn't worry. The only problem with all the information Mini gives us regarding our orders is that it makes the lack of it even more maddening. Keep in mind there's some lag time, and that you're Mini may already be on a ship. When I ordered mine in 2006, I didn't find out it had already left the docks until the ship was a day out from Charleston!

Don't worry...it'll get here eventually. Be sure to check the schedules on the shipping websites to find out what boat your car might get to ride on.

And your car might not be on the WW lines-- as the previous poster suggested. No need to worry!! Every day is maddening, I know.

Here's hoping your baby is already on a boat!

My Mini was built on the 14 of March and didn't get loaded onto the Madame Butterfly until the 23rd of March. The boat didn't set sail until the 28th so you are fine. The owner's lounge is actually only a few days behind. I called ASK MINI on the 25th and they told me my car had been loaded on a boat that was waiting to sail. If you go into the 1st Gear thread in the next section and click on the "How to Track your Mini" link you can figure out which boat your car will be on if you have your VIN #. Good luck and don't panic. Your Mini will get here. I found that once the ship left Southhampton that I have relaxed a lot more.

Misery loves company.. I'm in the same situation as you. I ordered mine on 3/14/08 and she was "Scheduled for Production" on the 29th. On April 3rd she was listed as "Awaiting Transport".

I called (866)-ASK-MINI today and the automated message said that she had been delivered to the port and was waiting to be loaded on a ship. I was hoping she would make it aboard the Fedora like some of the other week 14 mini's but it looks like she will be put on either the Tagus or Courage later this week.

I'll just have to keep checking the WW website with my VIN to see what I can find.

my mini has been AWAITING TRANSPORTATION* status on the mini website for quite some time. The WW website says my vin number is invalid or whatever. so Ram, how do you know which ship its going on?

ALSO, if it wasnt on the WW line, what other company could i use to track my mini down?

Hi noraa,

If you go to the WW website and chose Customer Centre/Schedules

http://schedule.2wglobal.com/AppSchedules/

Under Schedule Options, you can select "Search by port". You will first have to select the originating Country and the Destination Country (Click Search). Then select the originating Port City and departure date (Defaults to current date) then the Destination Port city and Arrival Date. I chose Southhampton and New York, NY as my ports (Click Search). This will show you all of the WW ships traveling between those two ports during that time frame. It looks like the Tagus is now pushed back two days and scheduled to leave Southampton on the 14th rather then the 12th. If we are going to be on a WW ship, my guess is that we will either be on the Tagus or Courage.

As far as the other lines that carry MINI's, I read that none of them will allow you to track your car like WW does.

Here is a photo of were are cars most likely reside while waiting for boarding. (Courtesy of Google Earth)
