About ready to purchase my 2nd New Cooper

Well, it appears I've sold my 03 Chili Red Cooper Automatic that I've owned for exactly 5 years now. So I'm considering a new 08' or a good used with warranty. I live in Indianapolis. Any thoughts on good color combinations, options, dealers in the area or surrounding states with good pricing and good customer service? I loved my 03' Chili Red wondering if I'd be just as happy with a Electric Blue 08? If anyone knows of a good used 2006-07 out there feel free to let me know.

Kim

Well for 08, there is no Electirc Blue. But there is Oxygen Blue for the Cooper, Laser Blue for the Cooper S and either can be had with Lightning Blue. I suggest you go to the dealer and view these colors in normal sunlight to tell the difference. Online and in the brochure the colors look very different from real life. Probably goes for all the colors but the blues in particular.

Good luck and welcome to NAM.

Thanks for the info. I agree the blues look different in person. Wow - looks like your Mini hasn't taken long to get ordered. Where are you located? Love your choices on color & options. Have noticed a lot of people are going with the Piano Black. Haven't seen that in person. Sounds sharp! Would love to see a photo when you get it. I need one of those "en route" LOGOS. I need one that says "Can't Make A Decision - Soon to be New Owner Club"

Do you happen to know when the new transmission for the automatics can in? Was it 06 or 07? I'm considering a good used if I can get one with the new transmission. Either that, or the extended warranty.

Thanks! Enjoy your day!!!!

I wanted "Electric Blue" as well and was very disappointed to hear it was discontinued for '08. I'm hoping I'll be almost as happy with Laser Blue; it's deeper and more vibrant, but still in the same shade range. The configurator really doesn't give an accurate representation. You're exactly right, the metallic colors are very changeable depending on the light (especially the blues). IMO, Laser Blue looks best in bright light/sunlight when all the sparkly metalflake shows up. Whatever you choose, be sure to check it out in person (if possible ) under as many different lighting conditions as possible.

BTW, the Piano Black trim looks very nice but don't forget to consider finger prints on that shiny mirror-like surface (if that might bother you). Good Luck with your choices!

A new drive train (new trannies, new engines with a new mfr) was introduced in '07 for the hard top models. The rest of the car went through a substantial makeover at the same time as well. There are many threads outlining the differences between the '06 (First Generation) and '07 (Second Gen).

Good luck. I'm sure you'll be pleased with either year model.

The #1 Used MINI Deal Available Anywhere

Of all the used MINI's I've ever seen for sale on NAM, nothing beats the following for the price. It may be in Southern California, but it would definitely be worth the trip. And don't just read the ad, read the replies on the thread as well.

custom exhaust ( quiet )
k&n intake
painted arches and interior pannels
h-sport springs
yoko tires
konig wheels

This car has never been abused and looks really really good. We always get compliments on it whenever we drive it which hasnt been much lately.

Not sure what its worth but I would like to get $16,000 or best offer.

Thanks. This one in the photo is sharp! I continue to be amazed at the unique color combinations. Definitely not another boring taupe colored Honda or Camry.

I am torn. Do I go with another Chili Red Cooper Automatic like my 03 (they do make a GOOD red), or go for a Laser Blue "S"? Only thing is I really need the automtic, and not sure about ordering an "S" in auto. Also not sure the addt'l cost for an "S" is worth it. More in insurance, more in gas, etc... MORE FUN THOUGH???

It's a sharp car! No doubt. COlor looks great w/the wheels, and window tint.

I'm torn between another Chili Red, or to go w/the Lightning Blue this time around. Or really go ot on a limb and get an "S" in Laser Blue (my favorite color!). Only thing is I have to get an automatic. Not sure if when I go to sell it if someone would want an "S" w/auto tranny. Also not sure if it's worth the added price, gasoline, and insurance costs. Hmmmm....

Not really sure what the problem is; I've seen lots of automatic "S" versions. IMO, it's almost a no brainer; if you want an automatic, then the "S" is the way to go (if it's within your budget), for the added power lost to the auto. tranny. As you probably already know, there are also several added cosmetic extras you get by upgrading to the "S" which are part of the price difference. You've had a regular Cooper automatic for 5 yrs. so you'd be the best judge for your needs, but isn't the base car slightly underpowered with the auto., and don't they both require premium fuel? You do trade-off a few MPG's for the added reserve power, but it seems to be a fair trade. I'd have been happy with either, but since we already have a 5-speed sportscar (Miata), we opted for the automatic in this one and felt that the "S" was a better match.

As for color out of the 3 you've mentioned, IMO, the Laser Blue is the most striking (though you couldn't go wrong with any of them). Now if either Electric Blue or Silk Green were offered, well...

Good Luck with your decision!
