Me too, me too, me too!!! Booked on the Turandot!

I went to the site and entered my VIN a bunch of times and still no info. Was about to give up. Then I entered the letters as capitals and there it was. Nearly had a heartattack.

Ollie waves to all your MINIs!

Steaming, glad to hear you made it onto the TURANDOT too. How long do you (or anyone) think it will take from arrival in Port Hueneme to ready for pickup at the dealer? Two weeks? More? What gear will I be up to by then? 3rd? 4th?

well then....this is good news for everyone today. everyone is now on a ship or about to be on one. i placed a few people on certain ships on the list, even though they didn't confirm anything, but i'm making a fairly safe assumption judging by everyone else's placements.

so i guess the next time the list is posted, it will be to signify to us that a person got their brand spanking new MINI. so we all expect to hear back from every one of you, even if its just a blip because you're too excited about finally being motor like theres no tomorrow. i plan on continuing to update the list until the very last person gets receives their MINI.

we're almost there! hang in there and we'll pull through!

cheers..........................

p.s. unless you plan on keeping your old car or trading it in, its time to start planning the sale.

Steaming, thanks for putting me on the list. WOW, you are super organized! You even have everyone's name in alphabetical order!

With an ETA of 5/19, and living in Los Angeles, it would be great to have it by Memorial day weekend!! WOOHOOOO!

Hello to all my shipmates!

Hello to all my shipmates!
Yeah, Steaming is good. I've peeked at a couple of the other support group threads and none are this organized.

Memorial day? I am soooo jealous! I really doubt it can make it up to NorCal by then.

assuming nothing happens while crossing the pond...assuming the VDC won't have to fix anything...assuming nothing happens on the auto-transport semi...AND assuming that the dealership is quick and thorough with their inspection and primping: 10 to 14 days.

of course assuming this doesn't attack any shipping vessels and surrounding cities:

(of course this is more of an east coast dilemma according to recorded documents & events)

Don't know about Port Hueneme, but my R53 flew through Charleston back in 2006. Here's the timeline...
  • Awaiting Transport: 7/10/06
  • Arrived at VDC: 7/30/06
  • Arrived at dealer: 8/1/06
  • Final delivery: 8/5/06
And that was going from Charleston, SC to San Antonio, TX...

I was given a similar example timeline for the west coast

6/25 in Oxnard discharged from ship
6/26 at VPC
6/27 released to carrier
6/29 arrived at dealer (east bay mini - which I think is central or norcal)

But here's where I go with steamy and sfomini and expect 2 weeks so I can be pleasantly surprised.

The Independence II has a stop in Baltimore before Charleston. Is there a VDC in Baltimore, or do I have to wait for it to get to Charleston?

In case anyone is as obsessed as I am: the TURANDOT finally appears on the Port of Southampton schedule. It arrives in Southampton on Monday at 07:30 and it departs at 18:00. Let's see, that's 10:00 am on Sunday morning here in California, so I'll have to celebrate somehow!

"Well back to drinking"..

I'm praying to Minos, God of all things small and sporty, for strong westward currents.....

I have a Power Motor Mini's model of a blue Mini sitting in it's display case, in front of me. Man is it cute. 1/87th scale. My thumb is bigger.. I'm amazed at the tiny detailing on it. I can read the Mini script on the boot ( with reading glasses of course )! I'l have to think of a clever place to install it on Hawthorne. I'm afraid the top of the antenna might be too tempting to folks walking past. At 5 bucks a pop, it might be worth one or two of them, but a bent antenna is another thing..

"OW"?

Should we be concerned that there is a big "OW" on the front of the Turandot?
