Okay, admission time for those of you driving manuals:

It's been awhile since I've driven a manual, but I remember that I was always shifting to 2nd gear when I came out of a turn. Now, I'm finding myself more often in 3rd gear than 2nd.

So, what gear are you shifting to after you turn?

Fig:

Happy B-Day!

No, there is no commitment yet on the adapter, just a hint from the MA of his support for the idea of including it. Now if he'd just call, or at least return emails.

I do find myself shifting up much quicker than my last manual, which was 15 years ago. Partly an effort to be gentle during break-in, but it seems to be plenty responsive at moderate revs. Corners in quiet neighborhoods are still second gear, though!

More rain here today, and there is a club event Sunday, so my Clubman may be grubby for it. No washing yet. May do glass today, though, so I can add some stickers.
Happy weekend.

Rolling stop at a stop sign/light = 2nd (duh)
Coming off a highway ramp = 3rd (enough power to exit and still be fun)

I guess that's what you're asking

EDIT: Oh I understand now, yes I am in 3rd more often in 2nd exiting a turn, our cars have gobs of power.

I cleaned all my interior this morning and then when I got home from work I washed with the Prima waxed with the Hydro and cleaned the glass mirrors with the Clarity I ended up cleaning the interior with the Nero My mini looks awesome. He is in the garage now

Fig Faun if I lived closer I would wash and wax your car for you. I can't stand it is my mini is dirty, everyone at work is commenting on my car they just love it the school secretary told me twice how much she liked my car.

I got a package from my MA today it was a cup with my name on it and mini and there were six cookies all wrapped in it. Did any of you get anything from your MA?

Naw, I haven't gotten anything. He was supposed to send me some keychains, and I haven't even gotten those, yet.

When I recover from putting down money on a down-payment, I think I'll invest in those Prima products. They look pretty easy to use; they're just semi-pricey right now for me.

I'm dying to wash, wax and detail the hell outta my car -- the weather sucks! I did manage to get some Aquapel on my windshield, though. Can't wait to see how well it works, and it looks like I'm gonna find out tomorrow

MJB, I hope the whole Prima treatment was nice and easy for you. Doing stuff like the Zaino system sounds almost painful

FF, hope you enjoyed your anniversary

Drew the prima was easy to use lastnight it was raining and we went out for and when we got home the car was still pretty clean and shiny. I love the Hydro.

I have to call service at the dealership today we have noticed on the checkerboard roof that some not alot of the black panels the corners are peeling up and I can't have that. I want it fixed or replaced.

Fig Faun did you have a Happy Anniversary (Birthday) yesterday?

I called my Mini dealer and I am waiting for a call back on when we schedule an appointment to have the graphic replaced or fixed. I am hoping it is only like an hour or two I just want it done correctly so this doesn't happen again. I will make sure I inspect it more carefully before leaving.

The dealership called me back and they are going to replace the whole roof graphic. They need to schedule an appointment on Monday, but they will do it on a Saturday morning bright and early at 8:00 am. They will also give us a loaner vehicle because it won't be finished until after 12:00, but that is okay I want it done right so that it won't happen again.

Look on the bright side - at least you don't have to "break in" your loaner .

The thing is they are not peeling up that bad and it is only a few I am just **** about these things. I figure if it is doing that now what will it do later and some of the graphics are sharp at the edge where some are flush with the roof.

I have a question if you guys had the checkerboard roof and that was happening to you would you have it fixed? They are replacing the whole graphic, and I hope they don't think I am being riduculous.

Absolutely not ridiculous, MJB. You have every right to ask for a replacement. Even if a little bit of the corner was peeling that's a sign of it only getting worse and worse, better now to take care of the problem 100% now. The fact that your dealer is replacing the entire graphic is also a good sign that they care about you as a customer. You are definitely doing the right thing.

Thanks Drew because sometimes I think I am just over reacting but the thing is I notice it, others might not but I bought this vehicle brand new and I want it to be perfect. Is it still raining where you live? We had a thunderstorm last night that woke us all out of a sound sleep including my dog it seemed like the thunder echoed for at least a couple of minutes.

Demand perfection, MJB, it's your baby

Yup, still raining. I am watching Weather Channel closely now, however, and after 1PM it should be clear for a couple of days. I already have the detailing stuff primed and ready in the garage -- I'm going to be charging outta there with bucket in hand and straight to the car like there's no tomorrow lol.

Drew I know the feeling I am a fanatic with keeping my mini clean everytime I go to town I see someone looking at my mini and I want him to look his best.

I am thinking about getting a bra for my mini and I found a website called Mini Mania the only problem is everytime I wash it I will have to remove it, has anyone had a bra for there mini and is it easy to take on and off? Apparently this one fits snug right to the vehicle.

I read more on getting a bra and I think I am going to wait they are good for long trips but not something you should keep on your mini at all times.

Hey everybody,

What a gorgeous day today! This morning the Milwaukee MINI club participated in an event to promote a local hunger relief organization; this was held at the Milwaukee Mile – a racing oval that has been used for major auto events for decades. Part of admission for this was non-perishables for the food pantry, and there was a fee which went toward "parade" laps on the track. You have to understand that Andretti, Foyt, Unser etc have all raced here, so the prospect of riding on this historic track was kinda appealing.

I showed up at the club meeting place, and found myself to be the only Clubman owner out of about 20 MINI's and Mini's. The laps were not terribly fast, but it was great fun, and I made history by driving the first Clubman on one of the major race ovals in the USA. How cool is that?

It was also a nice bunch of folks, some of whom came north to represent the Chicago MINI club. If you haven't checked, you can probably find a club fairly close to you, and fun events.

I have an appointment for tinting on the 12th!

I am actually a member of the MINI CLUB OF WNY which is as close as I can get to where I live. It really disturbed me this morning though, I posted that my vehicle had to go in to have the checkerboard graphic replaced due to some of the corners peeling up and that I was supposed to get a call back today for an appointment. Then someone from the dealership where I bought my mini replied and stated that they had to order the graphic which I already knew and that when it came in that they would call me. I replied back stating that my appointment had to be on a Saturday seeing that we live over an hour away. I was not being a ***** but I think this person might of thought I was.

I nominally belong to an e-mail list for an Austin Meetup group of MINI owners. But I'll probably never go to actually meet any of them. People scare me.

Nasty and rainy here right now, so the MINI's getting "God's bath" today. At least I won't leave work and find bird poo on it. Lol.

...not a member of any clubs...yet. Alto Clef, that must've been pretty cool to cruise around a race track, and as the only Clubman at that...sweet. How fast were you going anyway?

Drew,

The Milwaukee Mile event was open to the public, and there was every type of vehicle, from dump trucks (really) to street rods and NASCAR-type racers. The setup was to run a group of six vehicles bracketed by two safety trucks; you had to run behind the lead truck or get tossed out. The truck drivers allowed each group to set its own pace, so the racer types went pretty fast, others not so much.

My group had the dubious distinction of being led by a 1956 or 57 Nash Metropolitan, which belched oil smoke from the tailpipe, and reached maybe 60 mph. One could hang back a little if the following safety truck would let you, and then hit it going into the turns (until you caught up the car in front of you... no passing), and that strategy worked well for a couple MINI folks I talked to; one guy made it to 85 or 90 mph. Slightly banked turns made aiming for the apex easy.

For me, it was more about the novelty than the speed experience, but fun overall. Now if they offer track time at Road America when MTTS goes there in July, I'll be hoping for more speed!

Hah! You should've been the lead dog and left that Nash in the dust .

That must've been awesome on such a historic track. I have dreams of someday taking my MINI through the Corkscrew at Laguna Seca

My dealership never called me back yesterday, so when I got home from work I called them. The person I spoke with on Saturday was very nice on Saturday but when I called back they were quite reserved. What the h*** did I do

Called him three times per hour, probably. I kid!

People have bad days. Maybe you just caught him in one. If his attitude continues to be a problem, seek to speak to his manager. There's always someone higher up.
