Mine has changed to a delivery date of 4/19/08 now as well, so it could very well be there (though I haven't heard so from the dealership.) If joejoe's isn't there, yet, I doubt mine is either.

Fig Faun,

Yesterday, My MA told me it was on the truck, but the truck just wasn't there yet. He said at the latest it would be there today. They have keys to let themselves in the gate to drop off the vehicle. So I guess that if they dropped mine today, it could be in TX tommorrow. Just for kicks, I went to the owner's lounge and it said it was at the dealer.

I asked my MA what was done to process the vehicle. He said the car comes from the factory only able to use first gear, only the driver's window works, the suspension has blocks in them to keep the car from bouncing too much, the tires have 5o lbs pressure, and it has scratch resistant wraping. Basically, they program the car, remove the blocks, correct the tire pressure, balance the tires, and take it for a test drive. Cool.

As long as they're not driving to Sonic and ordering extra messy chili cheese coneys in my car, that's all fine with me. Thanks for the info, joe!

I went into work this morning and filled out a slip for a personal day on Friday I could tell they weren't pleased but I told them it couldn't be helped I also didn't tell them why. I figure that is none of their business.

Hurry up Friday!!!!!

Just four days to go, MJB. You can make it! *waves pom-poms*

I just got an e-mail from my MA who said that my car is scheduled to arrive some time this week "probably on Thursday."

Alot of people asked me today at work if I had my car yet I said Friday I told them to look for it on Monday. My son's teacher stopped me today and said I heard your getting your car on Friday. I told him that is why I am not going to be there and either is my son.

I am so excited and it was so hard getting back into work when I have been off for 2 weeks. I told the kindergarten teacher that I work with that I wouldn't be there on Friday, I told her it was for a good cause going to pick up my car. She doesn't like it when I take time off.

Do you know what you are going to use on your car when you wash and wax or polish? I asked my husband if we had a porter cable dual action polisher and we do so I am going to make sure my baby shines. I am going to do it all by hand that is why I am curious what everyone is going to use because to be honest I don't know what to use.

Pah! I wouldn't know what to use at all. I'm not an OCDetailer. When I did wash my current MINI, it was always through a hand-wash car wash.

I forgot to tell everyone and don't laugh (it is okay if you do) the most of you know I am a female and anyways I get my nails done it is the girl thing to do but anyways my nail tech painted my nails red with checkerboard tips for my mini. So when I go pick up my car I am going to have my checkerboard nails to match my checkerboard car.

LOL! That's awesome!

You need to take a picture of your cockpit with your hands on the steering wheel. Though, I suppose you'd have to hit the button with your tongue to pull it off.

I still really love the checkers idea. I'd have to name mine "TaxiCab" if I did that.

Maybe my husband or son can get in the backseat and lean forward and take my picture. They look really cool and I hope they last. I wear gloves when I am in the cafeteria so they shouldn't look that bad.

I almost changed the checkers idea and I am so glad I didn't because of all the minis I have seen in my home town which is maybe three not one of them had the checkers, so I am the only one which is exciting.

Check out the "Detailing 101" forum in "MINI's in General" for waaay more info than you're probably looking for. One short answer to curiosity about detailing: look through the Detailer's Paradise website; they are a NAM vendor, and have everything you could need.

Too cool, MJB. Make sure to share the pictures.

I got my check from Pentagon Federal CU today. Man, are they quick! Two days after applying, I got a signature card in the mail to sign and send back. I sent that in the mail on Saturday, and today (Monday) I get the check. Super fast!

Wow, we need pics of that! Checkerboard pattern is so very Mini, I'm sure you'll create quite the stir at work and around town.

I will sit here quietly and wait for the pics and stuff to roll in

One more day down almost anyways.

I usually do pool duty in the morning but the pool is closed for the next 2 1/2 weeks so I don't have to be into work until 10:30, that will be nice after I get my mini.

Lol. I wish I could go in that late. Spring break. Winter holidays. Summer vacation. You've really got it made, don't you?

Well, I e-mailed my MA to find out when I'm going to be able to come down, so I could arrange it with work, and it looks like Friday is the day for me, too. We'll be taking possession together, MJB.

Got it!

My wife and I met today around 1:30 at the dealer and took possession of our new Mini. The wife is extremely happy, and after the hour drive back, she had the biggest grin on her face. She says it is the happiest day of her life outside of getting married, and the birth of our daughter. Didn't get around to taking pictures before the sun went down. Will do tommorrow. First thing after we got home, we drove to the tint shop to get a quote and schedule an appointment. Going with 50% on front doors, 35% around sides and back, and Limo on the sun roofs. Will be installed Saturday. Started reading the instructions on mounting the roof rack and box I bought.

By the way, we had 5 miles on the clock when we picked it up. After giving neighbors spins around the block, a trip to the mall and a quick jaunt up one of my favorite roads, we now have almost 200. I can see the miles will pile up fast.

That's great that we will both be getting our minis on Friday only today and tomorrow. I can't wait.

Awesome, joejoe! Sounds like a fun, fun day!

I'm going to have to hold off on things like quoting tint and such, after all the money I'm putting down on the car. I'll have to replenish my bank account before thinking of things like that.

Fig Faun,

My wife thought I was gonna wait also, but we cracked 88 degrees here yesterday, and you could feel the heat radiating through the windows. The A/C works great, but I could feel my skin getting roasted with no tint.

I did some research before I ordered the car. Mini Dealer quoted me $250. That sounded OK, but I wanted a local source if there are any issues. I got a recommendation from a couple friends. Both told me the same place. I called them and was told regular Mini's run $175 for everything including sun roofs, but to bring it by when I bought it so he could give me a firm quote. I budgeted $200 and the quote was $190. Not bad.
