Congrats MJB.

Is anyone else having trouble going the speed limit. I shouldn't be shocked, but this car makes me so. It makes you want to drive too fast. And corners! OMG! this thing loves corners. I am loving it! 653 miles in one week and counting. Can't wait to use full power.

Of course I haven't noticed I've been speeding. That would be wrong!

...

I've just noticed how freakin' slow everyone else drives!

The only time I have problems with the speed limit is when there's some really slow vehicle in front of me. After downshifting and passing I can't believe how fast I'm going afterwards. I guess I'm still getting used to it.

Otherwise I am in 5th-6th gear in 45-65 MPH roads almost all the time, cruisin'

Fig Faun I find you extremely funny when I read your past post I laughed and laughed. When I took my son to school this morning I was going 45 in a 35 zone I'm telling you everyone said that my mini is a police magnet with the checkerboard and also I have a checkered flag for my antenna it looks so cool. It's almost your birthday Fig Faun and you will be 30 on May 2nd correct?

Has anyone clayed there vehicle yet? Is it hard to do? Would I clay the checkerboard roof or wouldn't that be safe? Please don't tell me to go to the detailing forums because I asked them and they didn't answer my post. I just want my vehicle to look nice and wasn't sure if it is necessary to clay or not.

I try not to notice when I am speeding, I just hate it when someone gets on my a** I want to stop and get out of my car and tell them to go where the sun don't shine and that's a nice way of saying it.

I love corners I purposely go fast around them because I love the rush

Which is when they respond, that the MINI could probably fit. I live in Texas... home of the "I bet I could fit yer car in tha back o' ma trook!" Yeah, I never get tired of hearing that one.

Sorry; I can't help you with the detailing, MJB. I have no clue when it comes to that stuff. I just get stuck in a dirty, little cycle. I don't wash my car, because I don't know what the proper way of doing so is, and I don't want to hurt any of the materials. Which only makes the car get more in need of the very washing I'm afraid to give it. Eventually, I just get so frustrated with the muck, that I take it to a hand car wash.

I guess now that I'm in new-owner mode, I should get my Google-fu on and look all this stuff up. I refuse to wade through the Detailers' Forum, though. That's like poster-child stuff for OCD anonymous. Those are the same people who get a high colonic every week, because they just can't live without a squeaky-clean anus!

Oh, and MJB: I am definitely not celebrating my 30th birthday on Friday!! I'm simply observing the 1st anniversary of my 29th birthday!

Wow, man! Is that a commute, or have you taken some "sick" time to bond with asphalt? Mine started with 1 mile on the odometer, and I'm only up to 100 mis. right now.

I don't think I'll have time to catch up this weekend, either, with family coming in to town. Maybe, it's time to plan a visit up to Dallas "to visit them back."

FF,

The car had 5 miles to start with. Wife drove home from dealer which is about 60 miles. She drives it to work every day, about 10 miles round trip and I get to drive in the evening. Who knows how many I have contributed. Throw in her trips for work; let's see she went to Alexandria (we are in Lafayette) -180 miles R.T., St. Martinvile - about 30 miles R.T., Delcambre to see her parents - 60 miles R.T. She left this AM to go to Baton Rouge, where the dealer is and will be there until Friday -120 miles RT, then we go to New Orleans for Jazz Fest this weekend which is probably 130 miles each way. We will be finished with the break in period by next week.

The wife is ready though. She hates not being able to use cruise control when highway driving.

BTW - we have averaged around 30-31 mpg so far. Probably will drop slightly once full power is engaged.

Lol. And by "full power" are you talking about the Sport button, or just beating the hell out of the tach?

Both! Well, mostly the sport button, but I am sure there will be times when the tach will come into play. We have to auto trans. I wanna use the paddles, and I am don't want to kick the engine down hard during break in because the Turbo will most certainly build RPM's too quickly to manage.

Lol. I went with the manual this go around, and I've never actually driven an MCS (I needed/wanted the cheaper base price and better fuel economy... plus, I just don't like the look of the hood scoop; I know, I'm weird.) I ooops with the tach once when I was in 4th and thought I was in 6th (hey, there's a re-learning curve, right? RIGHT?! )

But other than that, I've been good. I'm curious to see what the Sport button will do, but it might be awhile before I hit break-in, unless I just start taking the scenic route to work... y'know... like going through your state first.

Well I went to work and my boss was impressed with my car, of course how can you not be. It is simply gorgeous. It is so funny I sometime watch people when I go by them to see what they do this one guy and this is no exaggeration his mouth flew open and literally just watched me go by I laughed so hard I never tire of those looks.

Alright Fig Faun if you are 29 on Friday then I will be 29 on October 6th Happy 29th to you

I thought I'd give the MA a few days to procure the bluetooth armrest adapter; he was going to have several deliveries this week. If I don't hear Friday I'm going to drop in again, maybe talk with the sales mgr.

I cleaned the interior of my mini this morning before I have to go to work and if it doesn't rain I am going to wash and do the windows when I get home.

Lol. Thanks, guys! Much appreciated.

MJB: Come clean mine! My family is coming in to town after I get off work, and I've already got "road love" on it.

Alto: So, they're definitely giving it to you for free, then? You're just waiting on it to arrive?
