Hey Foo Fighter, are you a fan of the rock group, a WWII buff, or is it a video game reference?

No excitement 'cause we're in 'radio silence' as our ship the Asian Emperor quietly sails day and night towards Southern Cal. That, and they don't seem to be participating in the voluntary weather postings that the sailwx site tracks.

I have to admit though, it is a lot more exciting in here...

For those interested in tracking, I dug and found the Turandot in the sailwx site.

http://www.sailwx.info/shiptrack/shi...html?call=SGBA

The page prior lead me to this map and may be needed to track going forward:

http://www.sailwx.info/shiptrack/shiplocations.phtml (you can actually see the ship in this view too)

or one page earlier....you just need to click in the section where you belive the ship may be and it will zoom in and take you to the next screen.

http://www.sailwx.info/shiptrack/shiplocations.phtml

Back to work....

Here's a plot of the Turandot's position as of about an hour ago. Looks like it's sailed about 1000 miles.

Thanks; saves me from looking it up myself - and good to know that they are headed in the right direction!

Funny, I had a dealer whom I had phoned months ago requesting info on the Clubman and when I could get an allocation to spec out our car, call me today to let me know that they had arrived and to come on down to see them and get "one of the few" available with only a $1.5K markup.

Yep, i'm sure that they will get them too but I was happy to let him know that ours is on the water and will be delivered at MSRP

VintageMac,

Is your name based on McIntosh stereo equipment? Sorry if this has been covered before.

To answer your question, I'll have coilovers here and wheels on order when my MINI gets to the dealer in the first week of March. In addition, I'll have a healthy order from Detailers Paradise and possibly some driving lights.

McIntosh

Hi Wolfgang,

Yes, McIntosh stereo! Not Mac computers.

You found me out!

I know all of us live in the U.S but this blows. Why do the U.K. people get to celebrate there mini arrival while our boat is not even half way here. It's so sad to live so far from where our minis are born.

That's true vudu, but isn't the anticipation going to make it all that much better when they finally arrive!

Hi Vudu Girl,

The Turandot is right smack-dab in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean. She isn't due into Panama for another week - the 23rd.

vudugrl, I just sold the car I was driving and I'm using a borrowed car so I can relate to wanting my car now!

Based on the map showing the Turandot's position, it should reach the Panama canal by Friday. It must take a day or less to get through the canal because the schedule shows it arriving at Manzanillo, Panama on Saturday.

As for things to add, I just got a Garmin Nuvi 360 which is the same portable GPS unit that the dealer sells. I'm going to order the bracket from the dealer that mounts it just to the left of the tach and supplies power. I also am going to get a trailer hitch so I can use a rear mount bike rack. I think I've also seen an attachment for a tralier hitch that let's you carry a spare tire. I wouldn't use that every day but it does seem like a good idea for longer trips.

First thing to get is tint for me as well--especially in Arizona. Second will be to figure out the car seat options for the kids and then XM/Sirius options. Will defiinitely be exploring the USB outlet to find out its capabilities (ie port replication, power supplied) and to potentially create a central area for things like cell phone, ipod, mp3 and other devices so they can be plugged in and/or charge at the same time.

Do you have anything in mind about creating a centralized area for the cell phone or ipod. There's this thread about ipod installation but I'm looking at something more neater. Any other suggestions?

Once I get the vehicle in hand I'll assess what I can do with it. Most likely will dig through threads to see what others are planning on installing and compare to what I need/want it to accomplish. Probably port replicator at the least and will figure out how to "hide" it so cables aren't strewn all over the place. We'll see.

Some of us missed the Asian Emperor. It left one week before the Turandot and is now at the Panama Canal. However, it is two days behind schedule. It was supposed to pass through the canal yesterday (Sunday) but is now scheduled for tomorrow (Tuesday).

Hopefully we'll have better luck!

Also on the Turandot...

Hi, All:
My Mini is also on the Turandot. Am awaiting my Mini Cooper S (Astro black, Redwood Lounge Leather, Convenience, Sport and Performance packages, etc.) with bated breath.
My first post on NAM—so happy to be here.
