He's here!

Just got an e-mail from my MA, my Clubman is at the dealership! We are going to meet Max tonight, but the tinting, clear bra and JCW steering wheel will set back delivery for a couple of days. Maybe Saturday!

08DSMCS- That sounds just terrible. I'm sure the repair will go as though it never happened, but I can imagine how frustrated you must be. Just remember, once it's here you'll forget all about the wait!

I'm sure you're right on both counts. I was just so set on getting my car this weekend.

So i finally have the scoop on why my car isn't here yet. When our ship got into the port at charleston, some were immediately taken to VDC in charleston to be processed and some (like mine) were transported by trucks to be processed at the VDC in Brunswick, GA (who knew they had one there??) and then will trucked back to Charleston and then sent out to dealers. That's why mine is so delayed. It is supposedly going to be here tomorrow. But dealer is super cool, since I have been freaking out about my trade-in mileage.... We are going tonight to pick up my fiance's, trade-in my car, and I'll be driving a loaner MINI home for the next few days. If we can't pick mine up by Saturday, my MA will personally drive mine out to me and take back the loaner. And we are getting 150$ each in MINI accessories. And it's not even the dealer's fault, but they are really taking care of us because of this ordeal. I'm excited even to be picking up a loaner tonight!!

I finally got to pick up my car Tuesday night. Love the car! Not so much the sales manager. When the Sales person brought the car around, I noticed that the bonnet stripes were missing. I figured no big deal, I know it's not that big a deal for the dealer to install them. I mentioned it to the sales person (the original sales person is no longer there) and the sales manager, overhearing this, butts in and says they can install them but it was going to cost me $210. I told him that I ordered them with the Sports packagey were supposed to be included. He starts to get into an argument with me about it. He said that I must not ordered it with the stripes. I told I had configured the car on MINIUSA and had the configuration sent to their dealership. He then says if I had ordered it with the strips, they could check their email. I said OK. After waiting for about 30 minutes while he is looking through emails, I got on the internet and pulled up my saved configuration on MINIUSA. I then went over to the sales manager and said that I had my saved configuration pulled up and I could show him that I had ordered the bonnet strips. He tells me that they couldn't go by that because I could have changed the configuration. What a ____! Over some stupid bonnet strips! Now I am really getting pissed. So after waiting another fifteen minutes for Mr Customer service to look through email, I walk outside to cool off. When I walk back in he is still looking at his computer and although he looks up at me does not acknowledge me, so I ask him "You get that figured out yet?" He says "Ya, I all ready told your sales person". So I walk over to the sales person's desk and he tells me that they were not going to charge me for the strips. No "Sorry", no "we found your email and it was our error", no "we couldn't find the email but regardless we want to make sure you are happy so we'll make sure they are put on at no cost to you". Of course I will have to make the 200 mile round trip to come back for them to install them. Any way hopefully I woun't have to deal with the Sales Mgr any more! The car is Great!

Well, if you want to really screw them over do it on the customer evaluation. Supposedly if you don't give them all 5's they don't get commission.

I was quoted from the dealer (Assael MINI) $3500 for the JCW Aero Kit and $400 for the JCW Strut Tower Brace, I know they are ripping me a new one with these prices. I can get the parts themselves from Morristown MINI for $1600 shipped, so I can't justify $2000 for labor and paint. Does anyone know where I can get these installed for a reasonable price? I am in the L.A. area. I can't wait to take delivery, I have a lot of JCW parts I want to install...(4-Piston Brakes, Suspension Kit, Sports Seats, Door Sills, and Wheels), but the dealer is quoting me outrageous prices. PLEASE GIVE ME SOME ADVICE!!!

I called them a few days ago about installing these items at the VDC...they said they would get back to me. Today they called and said I had to set that up 2-3 weeks ago and its too late.

Got cars last night.... although mine wasn't my car, but a loaner. They did hook me up with a new S to drive the next few days until my car comes in. I have to say, that anyone looking for a new Mini should really go see Mini of South Atlanta, they have been nothing less than awesome for us.

Hoping that mine comes in today and I can finally pick it up on Saturday morning! I have to say, just being in a Mini finally is awesome, it handles so well, and I'm really pumped to get mine soon!

When I was considering the aero kit, I called around to local dealers for prices and was systematically floored. When I spoke to Universal City MINI, the parts guy said that when the kit is installed by the dealer, they have it done at Marco's, same place that the BMW dealership across the street uses. Anyway, I called Marco's and received a more reasonable quote. I don't remember numbers, but I'd look up Marco's and give them a call. If I'm butchering the name, just call Universal City and ask what body shop they use and work from there. Good luck.

MY PHOTO'S ARE UP!!!

Check out my car! They're in my "gallery". I need to find a more secure way to strap down the spare and install my Hella 500 driving lights, but besides that I'm pretty much done. I may not delete the rear wiper after I saw how intensive it is going to be (I'm worried about messing up the interior rear trim.

more pics
The MCS weighs more than the Cobra's 2,200 lbs.
While detailing my MCS I noticed there was alot of that yellowish waxy goop under the hood, around the underside of the headlight openings and on the door jams particularly. I think its the stuff they spray on at the factory to protect the paint during shipment. It's difficult to get off using water or car cleaner. I tried good old WD40 and it worked great removing the stuff. It wiped right off. BTW WD40 won't hurt the paint. I even found that stuff on the underside of the car. I looked under the hood of my daughter's BMW that is a few years old and there was still some of that stuff on it. The WD40 took it off but it was alot harder to remove because it had been on so long.

Is there anyone else in week 4 that hasn't at least gotten a call from their MA saying that their car is ready for pickup? Mine ended up having to go back to the VDC to fix a scratch that they discovered as they loaded it on the carrier (probably happened while they were loading it on the carrier).

Plans were to pick it up this past weekend. I emailed my MA on Wednesday last week just to make sure that it would be ready and he was told that it was taken off the carrier and placed "on hold". The VDC told him that it would be fixed and on a carrier heading this way by Friday at the latest, but as of today it's still not on its way and they told him to call back later this week!

This is killing me... I keep seeing posts from people in weeks 5 and 6 that have gotten their cars and mine is still at the VDC since the 18th!

I know your frustration!

Ordered mine 12/31 and actually finished production by end of week 3 (jan 18). Mine got to charleston on feb. 14 and is still somewhere on the east coast, they decided to take mine and a few others to be processed at bmw vdc in brunswick, GA bc charleston was getting too busy i guess. My fiance's was ready 2 weeks ago. Dealership and MA have been great and gave me a 08 MCS as loaner until mine is at dealer, maybe finally this week (?).

Hope we both get the cars this week!!

Hmm... I wonder if the fact that they are so busy in Charleston is why it's taking them longer than expected to fix mine. At least if it were in Brunswick, I'd know it was already halfway here (I'm in FL)!

Good luck with yours. Must be killing you even more watching your fiance drive theirs!

You'd think they truck it from GA to dealer here in Atlanta... but, no, they truck it back to charleston 1st then truck it out again to dealer. So stupid.
