My Ma called me last night by mistake......since I have called the dealership I now have the number memorized and I knew it was him.
He was so flustered when I called him by name even tho he was calling for someone else Finially he remembered who I was. Is he serious? for goodness sake he had to re-order the entire car for me you would think he would remember. BTW made sure the car expected was the 2nd order not the first since the 1st was damaged at the port.

Well I told him my car was at the VDC which apparently he didn't know Put me on hold and looked it up.
Says it should be here next week.

He asked me about accessories I wanted installed to which I replied-none. And promptly advised him that thier prices were out of my range(found a clear bra installer that will charge me less than 1/2 of what the dealership charged).
I plan to use vendors here for any other accessories. When I asked him about programming he told me I had to bring the car back ( mind you it is a 150 mi RT for me) when I got an appt with the service dept. Of course they would give me a lender.

Aren't they supposed to ask you what you want programmed and have it ready for you upon pick up? Or am I just hallucinating that I read that here?

I've communicated to my MA that I wouldn't be paying Schomp's prices for the tint/clearbra/driving lights myself (although I'd definitely be a candidate for paying *some* premium to get these things installed at the dealership, I won't be paying in the neighborhood of a 100% mark-up on these items, which is what my investigations have turned up). As I want to maintain a good relationship with folks at the dealership, I'm hoping that he understands where I'm coming from (but if he doesn't, I'll be content with merely saving about $750 by taking my business elsewhere).

Congrats on finally seeing the finish line on your new MINI coming home!

I recieved an e-mail entitled "Mind-Meld With Your MINI" and when you followed the link it asked things like how you wanted the door locks to operate and your 6 fav radio stations. It was only a few questions though. Have you gotten that e-mail?

When I spoke with my MA about picking up yesterday he mentioned something about they had to get the car programmed, so I assumed that was the stuff he was referring to.

I knew I wasn't hallucinating. Nope have not gotten the e-mail but regardless it just seems like they should do that for you BEFORE you pick the car up......uhhh customer services comes to mind! Jeez I spent d good portion of dough on this car.

Believe me I have my check list that I will be bringing with me and spending a good amount of time going over everything. Found the check list here on the NAM very comprehensive! Which actually includes pre-delivery items such as programming

Neil thanks yes it has been a long wait but so happy the time is near
Oh BTW I confirmed that my car will have the AUX outlet in it.
Will post as soon as I can once I get the car!

Question about the check list:

1)cold start software. I have read abou this issue. Is it a recent issue or a hold over from the beginning of the year?

Not on checklist:

1)anyone know how to check for the presence of DSC and /or LSD?

Wow- thanks for the link to the printable checklist. I must say, that is some list!!!

Hm. Wonder why you didn't get the e-mail. I tried to pull the page back up so that I could copy and paste the list for you, so you could at least e-mail your dealer with your preferences, but it gave me an error message and wouldn't let me do it. Check with the week 46 and 47 groups and see if anyone has theirs but has not filled it out yet. If they have it but haven't sent it off, they can highlight the stuff, hit Ctrl + C and it will copy, then Ctrl + V will paste it into a post reply here. Then you could copy it to an e-mail to your MA, all filled in so that he has no excuse.

I didn't get the e-mail either so if it is possible to copy it to a post I would like to see it.

Thanks,
John

obscurity- Aa far as the DSC there is a toggle switch that says DSC toggle DSC is automatically on all the time unless you depress the switch- when you do this you get a DSC off warning light on the spedo.

Don't know about LSD?

Minerva-I might just copy the progammable things from the list and e-mail to him.

Also here are two other list I found regarding delivery checklist and one about the progammable functions:

The nice thing about the e-mail thing was that it gave you the available options- like Follow Me Home Headlights stay on:
40 seconds
1 minute 20 seconds
2 minutes
3 minutes 30 seconds (I am making these times up as I go...)

Remote unlock operation:
Unlock all doors
Unlock driver door first click, all other doors second click

That sort of thing. That way you got to choose from what was really available within the software, or so I assume.

WOOHOO!!!

MA called at 11am this morning to tell us it came in. Wanted to know when we wanted to pick it up?! Seriously... how's now?!

Kidding, as we both work, but I stated tonight or tomorrow night. He said it would be ready by around 7:30pm. So we will have it this evening.

Only downside is the white stuff we are bracing for. Hopefully the "new" performance tires will make it home just fine. I know, I know, but not much we can do until the snows are purchased and here. Wife is a little worried, but I kinda, don't want to take away her first day with her new car.

She's excited, I'm excited, hope the dealer and MA are excited and don't mind/have to rush anything for getting it tonight.

Hey DoubleOh, just going back through the posts I missed.

Financing was the same. Dealer was matching the USAA rate, and we ended up going with the MINI Select anyway. Also didn't have to worry about getting the check, etc. I hated to not go through them (USAA) as they are terrific. But, one less hassle, and it's working out in the end.

Ok finially some good news.....my husband called the dealer to purchase the mats-front,rear and boot(he wanted me to have them as an early x-mas present). My MA told him they had intended to give them to me complementry since I had been so patient with having to order and wait twice.

Kudos to Ralph Schomp!!

Now how many hours til pick up??????

Minerva-

Is this the mind meld e-mail?

YOUR TASTES IN MUSIC:
1. Tell us the frequencies of your 6 favorite radio stations (no letters, just station numbers) and we'll pre-program them for you:

LOCKING SYSTEMS:
2. Would you like your MINI to automatically lock the doors after you get going over 10 mph? Yes or No
3. Would you like a single click of the "Unlock" button on your key to open all the doors (including the hatch) or just the driver's side door with a second click required to open the other doors? Open all the doors or Only open the driver's side door.

YOUR VIEWS ON LIGHTING:
4. If you'd like, your MINI will keep its headlights on to help light your way after you have gotten out and locked the doors. No thanks or Great, please have my MINI keep its headlights on for: 40 seconds 1.5 minutes 2.5 minutes 4 minutes
5. Would you like your MINI to activate its daytime driving lights? They'll automatically turn off when you turn the engine off. Yes or No

It is my understanding that the e-mails and the little book that they mailed out are part of the "Make Waiting Fun" program. I am told that it is an optional program that the dealer has to sign you up for. Did they ask for your e-mail address when you placed your order?

That is it. Like I said, not very much to it.

Ray is our MA. Everything went swimmingly. My wife couldn't be happier, although she was a bit overwhelmed by all of the information. She'll sort it out.

Pics to follow...

Not to dissappoint...

Picked up at 7:30pm, and we were done at 9. Probably could have taken longer, but I know it was closing, and he didn't gloss over a thing. We probably could have also been a bit more picky, but I think we will discuss at a later date.

R56 Production Week 45 Support Group-daisy-1.jpg

Our MA had her waiting in the showroom, there for everyone to see, and ready to be driven out!

R56 Production Week 45 Support Group-daisy-2.jpg

He was very thorough and had another owner he was finishing up with, so we looked it over a bit while we waited. Then, we hammered out the papers, and then he went over all of the car with us - outside then in.

And for the - This Thread Is Useless Without Pics - smileys....

I snapped some while she was on the way home, as we didn't have anyone to drop us off there. She's actually driving in these pics, and everyone, meet "Daisy!" (It IS my wife's car.)

She says the ride is fabulous. A little rough, probably due to the runflats and the "sporty" ride, but she can feel the bumps.

Not a negative, just an observation.

She loves it!
