Hey Sancochojoe,

We are going with BMW/MINI financing, and dealer already had us go through the process. I looked into it through my own bank, and they said it is generally good for 30 days, and if you don't use it by then, you just have to reapply.

As for insurance, I was able to do mine online (USAA), and simply specify the "date of purchase" that is more of the date of delivery. I set it for last Wednesday, so I have been insured, as I was hoping we would have had a surprise call last week.

Still nothing (3:35pm). As an aside, called ASK-MINI, and I am still at the port; no shipping info available. HAHA... really up-to-date, and our generic grey picture (when we first login) never changed to MY as per our MA stated it would. Oh well.

I just had a very disturbing conversation with 1-866-ASK-MINI who told me that they show my car as being shipped from Southampton as of the 26th!!...today!!! The shipper shows it as being dropped of in SC as of the 24th. At this point I'm not sure who I hope is less competant.

Financing

Was the dealer financing better than what you could get through USAA??

Mine still hasn't changed!

Hope mine didn't forget to get off the boat ... or maybe NY scared her back on the boat!

NY probably hasn't updated their system yet. I am sure they have a little catching up to do after the holidays.

Coop310 (or anyone else) - is your MA trying to get you to pick up the car by Friday? Mine was really pushing hard to do so (in fact was trying to get me NOT to come on Saturday the 1st). I told them I'd come down Friday only if they'd take some money off the price (enough to cover my 2 hours I can't bill at work plus car rental and a little bit extra).

Needless to say, if they weren't flexible, I would have easily walked away, but I was a little surprised as to how ansy they were to have the paperwork done by Friday ...

The WW site finally updated and showed mine as being discharged 11/23/07. Have you heard an estimated delivery date from your MA at Towson yet?

Just curious, seeing as how ours will be delivered less then 30 miles from each other. I would think they would be delivered on the same day, unless you had more options being installed at the VDC.

My dealer isn't pressuring me to pick it up. If anything it is the other way around. My wife and I have been sharing a car for 2 months and we are eager to have 2 cars once again. The most that has been mentioned by the dealer was something like "what plans do you have for delivery"

Thanks for the feedback , Coop!

Although I understand they are a business and have deadlines/quotas, etc. as many of us do, I'm glad they were willing to work with me in regards to the timing and price. I hope that they can take their time with me while I'm down there and not rush me out the door.

Did they actually agree to drop the price???? My MA also wanted me to come in on Friday, but she told me straight up that she wanted it to count on this month's sales! Only problem is Friday is not good for me so she said she would rush it through to be ready by Thursday evening. Don't know if I could wait until Friday anyway!

Yep, you probably got the call today too. If not, tomorrow morning. I would guess we were on the same carrier!

Not sure what options are installed at the VDC, but the only thing I ordered that I would think is added later is the bonnet stripes.

Dealer vs usaa

We got 5.9 through USAA and the dealer said they could probably match that but not beat it. A month ago it was 4.9 should have jumped at it then

They did - I explained to the MA and his boss who was on speakerphone that I'm a contractor (scientist) and that I lose salary if I leave work early to drive 2.5 hours to the dealership to not only get there early enough to drop my rental off but before they close (though they say they stay late on the last day of the month). I also said I wanted them to factor in the rental car amount and gas. I asked for a flat amount off for having to change my schedule, they countered with another amount, and we eventually met in between that.

I actually found out today the car arrived this evening, but I told them Friday would be better for me to pick it up. I actually did the financing paperwork via email (scanned pdfs) and have that nearly completed as well. I was quoted 5.74 for 60 mos ...

My car finally shows as "at distribution center". My hope is that it has left the distribution center and that it didn't take 4 days to arrive there.

On a related note I talked to someone at the dealership who confirmed that the Distribution center is in Greer,SC
