Order Mystery has been partially solved

I have talked about this on several threads.....My new 07 was ordered 9/6, completed production 9/21 and per OL and WW site has been sitting on the dock in Southampton since 9/28. It has been booked on 4 different ships but never loaded..Currently "booked" on the Maersk Teal to sail on 10/29

After much discussion on the thread and over PM's Tharkun told me to call my MA to inquire about the delay...

Finally got a hold of the Sales Manager and after a couple of calls he tells me this AM that the car was damaged somewhere and has been in repair at the dock since 9/28. This was never communicated to the dealer as it should have been and as of today we don't yet know what the damage was or how extensive it was. They told me as soon as we find out the extent of the damage it will be my call to accept repair or to re-order. I should be hearing from him sometime this week.

He was quite apologetic and told me it was a good thing I pursued finding out what was up, otherwise who knows if he would have been contacted at all. He also said he was asking MINI for a loaner car whaile I wait for the outcome.
I still have my 03 MINI and even a back up car should I sell my 03 MINI, so I told him that was not necessary but I would expect MINI to compensate me for my trouble.

Well since I now know what is going on I am perplexed at why this was not communicated to some one?? Thank goodness for this site and all it's members or who knows what would have been the outcome.

Wow. Glad you got it figured out, but now you have to have that rock in your gut wondering what happened, all the while you have to wait some more. I've been reading your saga; didn't post as I had NO IDEA of anything to tell you though. Cripes, I hope that now things will be ok. Keep us posted, I will keep my fingers crossed that it was actually something really minor and the long wait was for a part.

Sorry to hear the bad news and that it happened to you. From my past observations it seems if a Mini has severe damage when arriving at a VDC, it can take
weeks before the customer is notified. This is rather difficult to understand, and is an issue the Mini needs to improve upon. But you are the first I have seen
to have this happen at a port. If I was you I would just contact your MA and request to re-order a new Mini and not waste further time to learn what the problem
may have been with the current Mini.
Good luck on having the issue resolved very soon.

Interesting turn of info.

minmor719, I had seen some of your early posts, now that you know some of the story, it depends on your pain for waiting tolerance.

Personally, I would not accept a damaged MINI. If you can stand the wait, try to get on the Dealers priority order list and reorder. Get all your options and change what you may have thought about some more.

It is your NEW MINI and should be a NEW MINI.

Just a few thoughts for you to ponder.

Good luck.

Well, lets look at the recent history here - Mini has been upfront and Very honest on the delay and all damage from day one - So, with that "info" we should Trust Mini and be happy ???? NOT - Something here just does NOT smell right - I agree with the above post - I would NOT accept this car - insist on a re-order. I would not trust any information at this point and forever wonder what the 'Real' story was.... This of course would set you back another 4/6 weeks but at least you would/should have a better feeling about everything... 6 weeks really is not all that bad when you figure you will most likley have this Mini for several years... Its your Mini and your time, it is easy for me to sit here and suggest you wait even longer.... good luck,,,

Michael - the only set back would be the production time, since the Mini is still on the other side of the pond.

Thanks everyone

I do have some decisions to make.......I think I will wait it out until tomorrow for update on the status from the sales manager

But you all are right..probably should re-order....but want to make certain they will re-order high priority.

Did want to say the Sales Manager Ray Velasquez at Ralph Schomp MINI has been awesome keeping me in the loop.
My real beef is with MINI...what the heck...they should have contacted the dealership to advise of the delay way before I complained!!!!

As far as I would be concerned 'Sales Manager Ray Velasquez' Is Mini - nothing personal - just business - Stand Tall/Firm and let them know you have been talking about this on NAM - may not mean alot - but they will at least know you are talking on the internet about Mini and THEM - and how you will be treated will be Posted on the Web for all to see - I have ordered two Mini's since 8/31 - from the day I ordered "each one" was finished and sitting on the dock 7-9 days later... It can happen and your second Mini should be No different... They Owe you big time...

Also I would remind the manager about the response you received from one of his MAs stating "your Mini will arrive in 1.5 months". Someone should
have started "checking status" a few weeks ago.

If they were as knowledgeable as some here on NAM, they should have realized that Minis don't sit at the Southampton docks for 3,4, and 5 weeks.
My feeling would be it is a 50/50 thing, Mini should have contacted your dealer in a timely fashion, and the same goes for your dealer. One wonders
if you had not "forced the issue" how long would the wait have continued.

I absolutely agree..had I not pushed the issue (with some pushing from fellow NAMers) I would still be waiting and wondering.

I contacted Ray he will re-order ( made one small change) but will contact me regarding priority production and shipping tomorrow when he has had a chance to talk with the MINI factory people.

I have a quick question regarding ordering-when you order stripes ( in the pkg) is the only option the regular stripes as opposed to viper stripes?

My plan is to be at AMVIV this coming March. I changed my MCSa order to be without stripes so hopefully I can get then done there by one of the vendors. I wanted sport stripes but the dealer wanted $240.00 so I passed on that. Plan on getting clear bra ASAP but not by the dealer either just for S&G I asked how much they charge $647.00-highway robbery!

I do plan on hitting them up at delivery for some mats or something.

I do feel better knowing this car (so far ) is damage free..but waiting again not so much

You all are awesome to listen to my ranting and still support..not sure this would have been the outcome without you all.....Kudos to the NAM members!!! You all rock!

This forum (as like most forums) has been helpful to a lot of us. I too passed on any stripes by the dealer - with what they charge for labor - I will wait for a while to see what I find/like later... Enjoy

2nd order already in Production!!!!:)

Called Ask MINI and much to my surprise my new car went into production yesterday and is scheduled to be complete on 11/2, not sure which week that is?
I am overjoyed that what the dealer said would happen actually has.

I have never purchased anything for my current MC from the dealer...usually try to go with one of the vendors here or is all else fails thru e-bay.

I thought the sport stripes might be interchangable with the regular stripes-hell I paid for the sport package the regular stripes were included...guess that is what I get for thinkin LOL

Never the less, I pm'd Mike at Asthetic Creations about the stripes, he did my chrome stripes on my current MC so I'm sure he will be able to do the new ones, assuming he is going to AMVIV.
