Teetering on the edge of a cliff...

within 5 days of ordering a MCS.

Like most beginners, I'm starting here. I've lurked for hours of nonproductive "work" time here already and am ready to start my adventure.

Sunday we're ordering up a MCS, Chili Red (those who say it's faster must know what they're talking about, right ), black bonnet stripes, black roof, Premium, Sport, Cold packages, auto dimming mirror, rain sensor and auto headlamps, automatic, center arm rest, and HiFi stereo.

I will zip to and from work on a 73 mile adventure both ways until my 10 year old daughter is old enough to drive, then she gets it. She was involved in the "build" process and picked out the color and some options she liked and thought she would want with minimal coercion.

Here's to a new adventure, cheers.

Toby

Welcome to NAM, Toby!!!

Congrats on getting ready to place that first order!!!

Yes, I believe they say here that the Chili Red is faster. I'm still in the break in period, but I'll get back to you on that one soon.

Sounds like you have your options in order. I'm very happy with my selections in options and color combo. You just can't go wrong with the Mini. The Hubby saw a tracker trailer yesterday hauling new cars around. It had a purple colored Mini in tow. My heart melted, I'd have ordered it if I'd seen it first. I enjoy being unlike everyone else. Although with all the different options, mine is still unlike others in so many ways.

Enjoy the future task of tracking your car.

Thanks everyone. We're ordering it tomorrow, er, wait, make that Sunday...I guess I'm ready to get it ordered.

I have a partner in this pain filled 2 months of wait time, my daughter. Eventually this will become her car (in 5 or 6 years), so she's just as anxious as a 10 year old girl can be for a car to arrive!

Welcome and pre-emptive congrats!

Both my kids are angling for my MINI - but they're not gonna get it - I'm keeping mine FOREVER. But I'll help them get their own when the time comes.

She could do pink...probably with a soccer ball interior as well. Now, that would be innovative!

My plan is to have her drive this one (she helped with picking the colors and options) and I'll order another one! Faster, stronger, newer!

Welcome to NAM and your MINI order. Great idea for the daughter to get the MINI when she is old enough to drive. If she helps you with all the mods and works on the car as you get into the MOCD mode, she will be very happy. I'm sure she will respect and have earned the right to drive a MINI at 16.

Here's looking to your future purchase in 6 years, I wonder what a MINI will be at that time.

Thanks guys!

My daughter is fully involved in modding autos already. She "helped" at the tender age of 8 tear out and install a stainless steel 4" exhaust in our Dodge Cummins Turbo Diesel truck. She did, however, stay under the truck rolling around on the creeper for hours while I banged my head, neck, shoulders, and keester wrestling with the old exhaust pipe! She did ask if we were going to redo the exhaust when we got the MINI! In good time, we will.

I ordered the car on Sunday. Woo HOO! It's a subdued excitement here with my mind attempting to stay off the subject of MINI (this website does NOT help) as I've got to wait 2 months or so before it gets here. In all reality, that's okay as we've got until December 31 before we turn in our leased POS Mercedes E350. So, I've got to run the miles off that pig before I start enjoying the MINI. Darn shame...I don't think it will sit idle, my wife and daughter have plans to drive it to school/work (wifey works at daughter's school) until the jackhole POS Benz is outta my garage. I'm sure though, I will have plenty of "errands" to run on my weekends!

So let me see if I got this right... you're NOT a fan of Mercedes, correct?

So PHX ATC... you work at PHX, DVT or GYR?

Yup. Not a fan at all of MB. Very long story shortened to 2 sentences: wifey has accident (her fault) in MB in Dec 06, take to MB certed body shop, order all parts needed, MB takes 4 MONTHS to get front wiring harness to body shop, that's right 4 MONTHS! Car sits idle at body shop for said time frame, finally get wiring harness, I ask MB for goodwill gesture (money, trip to dinner, shirt, hat, etc), they give me the blow off, nothing but a fake "we're sorry." The car is a lease that ends up in Dec 07, so I have 11000 more miles to burn off that car until Dec 31. I have vinyl lettering that I'm putting on the back window that will say, "Benz customer service sucks...ask me why." So if you see that cruising around, that's me! OK, that was more than 2 sentences.

PHX, up in the new tower.
