Is that for tall people who can't see the stop lights? I'm only 5'5, so I can see pretty well!

I DID get the multivex mirrors, and after a little bit of driving, they really work well. Convex glass, and increases your side view mirror vision really well!

Ya and it's for if you have a stoplight. We have one at the other end of our town that I go through at most once a week.

I do remember on some of our road trips having to lean forward to see the light (I am only slightly taller that 5'5" myself) Besides it's another thing to pamper your car with. I'll look forward to hearing what you think of it RJ.

BTW my mom's birthday is 20 years 15 days ahead of me so she hit a milestone also a few days back. The family had a surprise party for me last night - complete with IV bag (pure caffeine of course) depends, tax season survival vest stuffed with goodies for an old person like me... glasses, several deduction finders (magnifying glasses) aspirin, etc My son added a case of '5 hour energy to keep me going. It was great fun (at my expense)

I even took a late-night ride on the back of my brother-in-law's Harley. The wind in your face does add to the rush of acceleration but I could do without the road smells (cow pasture, road kill, etc )

Have a good day all.

I tend to miss some of the email notifications of postings to our beloved thread.

Good to hear that everyone is doing well, despite getting older.
RJ- do you have pictures of the side scuttles? I saw some checkered ones today and they looked great. I have been contemplating that lens thingymabob. I DO want to know how it works. There are lights that I have to crane my neck to see. I'm NOT 5'5".

Scoopmama - the mirror's sound interesting. I've been splaying my mirrors out for about a year now. The are positioned so I CAN'T see behind me, only out to the sides. It was disconcerting for a while, but now as a vehicle goes out of sight in the rearview mirror, it appears in one of my side mirrors. As it disappears from the side mirror, it appears in my peripheral vision. I've come to love it.
My daughter's drive went well. She hasn't asked to drive again, but has begun to inquire when she can take it by herself. I told her there would be many more practice drives before then..... may 5 more year's worth!

MiniCounter - tax season is upon you, and me. It will be the first with my business. I think I have everything I need. I'll try to put it in the tax planner next week.
Sorry to hear about Bluebell's problems. Good Luck to both of you. Frodo has the Cold Start Rattle, but no one has really had any problems with it.... It just sounds bad sometimes.
Happy Birthday!!!!

Hope your Valentine's Days were great.

WHAT??? You mean no one went to the Portland International Auto Show??? We did and that's where I saw the British Flag Side Scuttles Mini2na, they will L@@K awesome on Molly...can't wait!!

The LightInSight Lens is giving me some issues, I think it is due to the cold weather. You have to saturate the windshield, place the lens on the water, then push out all the air bubbles. But after applying it I left it overnight with a cloth down to protect the dash, the lens fell off. So I will attempt it again this coming weekend (a 4-Day Weekend for me).

Have a Great Week everyone!!

I hadn't thought of putting the side mirrors out so that I couldn't see behind me. I guess that would work for the darned blind spot. I have just gotten more limber and nimble as I do the whirly bird scan from the front seat.

RJ, I went to the auto show. Great looking Clubman!!! (also a nice IS 250 that my wife fell in love with) Didn't see the scuttles.

I have Molly's Mirrors set so that they do not overlap the side of the car, I can see a sliver of the side, but not much. I haven't had any issues with blind spots, I do do the Whirly Bird too!!!

Ah ... but in the immortal words of the crazy Italian in the classic "Gumball Rally"

Franco: And now my friend, the first-a rule of Italian driving.
[Franco rips off his rear-view mirror and throws it out of the car]
Franco: What's-a behind me is not important

Minicounter - Is TODAY your birthday? If so, have a Happy one!

I was reading in the Exterior Modification thread New molded black-out that AC is coming out with some plastic wraps for the door handles that pop on and stick with a little tape. If you add that will Bluebell lose the "almost" in her quest for blackout?

Thanks.. yup I'm old as dirt today...

Thanks for the tip! I hadn't seen that!! Just what we need. Last year Lyle was still playing with the comfort access ones.

I also made the mistake of checking out the Alta site. They have my wheels on sale for $115/each!

The Feathers?

I want to pick up a set of the polished/black 17X7 Britelites. Today's the last day I think. I WOULD do it if I needed new tires yet. I just can't see putting the run-flats on new wheels.

Yep... the 16" I was going to have the current wheels powdercoated when I got my last set of tires but the timing didn't work out. They would have been $40 each so I'm thinking this would be a good deal - especially if I ever decide I want to put more of a winter tire.

BlueBelle is taking her ride north today The rental place gave me a red Dodge Challenger. Kind of sporty but doesn't have near the go that BlueBelle does with one hand tied behind her back (in limp mode without the turbo).
The guy at the rental place remembered me from last year even before I mentioned the MINI because of my whining about having to go without my car. He said he spent some time here on NAM checking them out after talking with me last time.

Happy Birthday Minicounter!!!

I had an interesting occurance on the Molly Car this afternoon. Hubby came and picked me up at work and when I went to start Molly she showed a new Icon, one I thought I recognized, but wasn't quite sure until I got home and checked out the Manual. A circle with an exclamation point in the middle, then tic marks around the outside and a small rectangle shape at the very top. It was an exterior light out warning, but a bit after we got home I checked all the lights had Hubby do a walk around while I executed different switches and could not find out which one was causing the problem.

RJ - Have your replaced any of your bulbs with LEDs? Did you check your parking, fogs and sidemarker/repeaters?

I read the electrical forum regularly because I want to "whiten up" my fogs.

MiniCounter - I've been looking into wheels since you mentioned it yesterday. Why are you staying with 16"? I have 17", but if I make a switch I do it all and change sizes. I also looked for Konig's on-line and found GREAT prices at America's Tire. I found the nearest one by going on the web. If one is not close to you, they will ship through Discount Tire. I found that they offered the wheels, mounting/balancing, stems and TPMS transfer for less than the price at ALTA. (I love ALTA though!) I just need to check to see if they will fit our 14mm lugs and come with hubcentric rings.

We have had some BEAUTIFUL days lately and another is coming today. I'm kinda glad I have had some time off lately.

Oh, on another note. Business taxes are a pain. I'm glad I'm finding out some changes I should make NOW in my record keeping to make '09 taxes easier.

Happy birthday RJKimbell!! (If I knew how to put the fancy dancing ones on here I would do it)
Jump on in ... the water's fine!

I hope you get to the bottom of your error code. I think our kids just don't want to be taken for granted...
I'm waiting to here the verdict on the test they ran on BlueBelle. Yesterday they started on the ... it's probably the aftermarket part... path.
We will see what they say today. I talked with Alta and they don't have a history of this problem.

Thanks for info on the wheels Mini2na. When I put in my zip code they don't show that the feathers are available though and the Konigs they do show are in the 150+ range. But you definitely have me thinking about my choice of size. I was going to stay with the 16's because I still have some tread on the tires I got a few months back. Although my road tends to eat tires like candy so that's probably a silly reason to stay 16.

Oh and business taxes... just get used to change...

Nope, Mini2na...Molly will be stock, except for Roof Rack and Bike Carrier. Maybe some new wheels and tires down the road. Holding off on major purchases for the time being.

Thank you for the Birthday Wishes...it's 9:15AM and I'm still in my robe. Gotta' get the dary started if I want to get up to Multnomah Falls Lodge for Breakfast!!

I think that's why I keep my cars generally stock, due to "we can't fix it...that's not a Facotry Installed Gizmo you got there...that looks like it could be what's causing your car to..." Get my drift!! Hope they don't give you the run around for to long!!

Happy Birthday yesterday RJ! How was your breakfast?

I'm going to attend (so's my wife) a Novice SCCA SOLO II School this year. The applications open tomorrow. That is going to F U N! I can't wait. May 2nd I believe. I'm going to hold off on any running gear, engine or wheel/tire purchases until I go to the school and talk to some knowledgeable people. I don't want to push myself out of G-Stock class. Once into the modified classes the sky is the limit in terms of $$$$ and I don't want that. Something as small as buying new wheels with a difference in offset can push you out. The Britelites I'm considering could do it..... ET 40 vs stock ET 43. Once I run my first event I'll know if I want to do it again.

So, NWerners... enjoy our GREAT weather. It is supposed to go away this weekend. I got to washed and detailed Frodo yesterday. I still need to do the Black WOW exterior and finish the vacuum and 303 on the interior. I can't believe how well the Prima products are lasting. Premium products (at least these) are proving to be well worth it. I even got a call last week from a car detail customer who I finished in October who said they couldn't believe how well the wax was holding up.

Didn't get there in time for Breakfast, so we had Lunch, it was very good. Weather could have cooperated a little more, it was overcast with a bit of a breeze and Mid-40's, sad to say we didn't hang around. Realizing that it's only a 30Min. drive, on a good day, means we will definitely have to visit more often.

Happy square root day! 3/3/09! I think you're supposed to cut root vegetables into squares. . .carrots, potatoes. . . My students are definitely UNDERWHELMED by this fun fact today.

MINI news. My hood scoop has been looking REALLY crumpled. the dealership looked at it, and have a liner to put on the inside bonnet lid. They will do that, then replace the chrome scoop with another pretty one! Bling Bling!

Has spring made its way up there yet? We had a lovely day yesterday. Humid, low-mid '70's. It will get chilly again (well, ok, 50's and 60's ) later this week, but the light rain yesterday was fabulous!

Happy square root day to you! Alas, Spring has still not reared its lovely head yet here. We have had a clear day or two, but it is still in the 40s and, more often than not, quite windy.

Not to worry though, I have much to keep me busy, aside from motoring. Vexation of the week - how to keep cats from using my backyard as a kitty litter (we have pea gravel in the back.) The pugs don't mind (eurgh!) - BUT I DO! I ordered a Scarecrow (a motion sensor sprinkler head!) I wish fervently for success. Pug kisses just aren't what they used to be.

Well Gang, I did find out what the Error Code is, it is the Right Side Rear License Plate Light, no biggie. It will be replaced when Molly goes in for her
1 Year Anniversary Appointment, April 17th.

I also was able to re-install (correctly) the LightInSight, it works AMAZINGLY well!!

Detailed Molly over the Weekend as a Pre-Birthday Present, she's smiling Big Time, but wishes it were Open Sun Roof Weather!! Ok, well that last part is what MOM is hoping for!!

I can't believe that Molly will be 1 Year Old (Production B-Day) on Thursday, she has less than 12,000 miles on her, but those are sneaking up. Maybe 12,500 by the time of her appointment, right at average, so I'm happy about that.

Happy Birthday Molly!! Motor On. Glad to hear you only have a light out.

RJ - You are becoming quite the detailing expert. I guess I'm going to have to get some of those Monster Fluffies.

ScoopMama - my daughter didn't think yesterday's name was funny. She said is was a day for squares.... now how did she know about that reference Daddy-O?
