R56 Week 33 Support Group!
USB is part of the Bluetooth option, which is $600 from the factory. If you don't have Bluetooth, retrofit would involve installing a new harness and armrest with phone adapter, and I can see it being easily over $1000 at the dealer. If you already have Bluetooth, retrofitting just the USB should be much cheaper.
Hmm, if that is the case, then it certainly is not worth it. It seems like it may be packaged toghether, but the systems should not be dependent on one another...and I am not fond of bluetooth. Does anyone know if the cable and aux input face w/usb are available as separate replacement parts? If not, does anyone know of junkyard that is in possesion of a totaled r56 that was equipped with bluetooth?

It can connect to a USB memory stick, or with an adapter, to an IPOD. Once connected, your radio/nav screen lets you access and play music from it using the radio controls or your MFSW.

My MA says ETA for delivery is 15th. Hopefully it'll ready before noon - I have to take the purchase agreement to my CU to finish the financing, but they close early on Saturday. I'd hate to have to wait 'til Monday.

greylight, what ship was yours on?
I'd start to seriously wonder if your car has been at the VDC for two weeks now (unless maybe you're getting an aero kit installed that is). That's entering the area of damage done during shipment in my book. Make sure you talk to your MA about that one.
Although my MA gave me a date of Saturday, 9/15 (which he said might end up being Monday!), the OL says tomorrow, 9/14. I think my MA is giving himself a day or so to prep the car. But I have no dealer accessories to install - it should just be a quick inspection and a detailing.

The OL has a date of 9/16 (Sunday) for mine. I'm not getting any VDC add-ons so I was expecting it to be sooner. So close, yet so far!!! And I've already cleaned my miata i'm trading in so I can't go anywhere...
As a side note.....if/when your OL updates and shows an estimated delivery date, that is the date for arriving at the dealer. So you are still at the mercy of the dealer and his "PDI & prep" times. I do know that can be accomplished in 3 - 4 hours, but also depends on how many Minis they have scheduled for delivery and how anxious your MA is to get you out of his world.

My post was for those who are in the majority that do not take delivery by the estimated delivery date which the VDC determines and the VDC has no info on the time frame for a dealer to deliver the Mini.
Greylight, don't worry about getting the contract to your credit union the same day. I am working it this way. Ask your CU person if you can do it this way as well.... Mini will ok this procedure..(I am doing this with Mini Long Beach)
1. Go ahead and make the down pmt via check with the dealer so that it reflects on the purchase contract.
2. Have the Mini dealer write up the purchase agreement, you want "5 days same as cash". That means you have 5 business days to get the check to them.
3. Drive the car home that day
4. Your CU person can overnite the check directly to them on the day you fund.
Simple!!

CUDL
If your CU and Mini dealer are members of CUDL ( Credit Union Direct Lending) then you sign the final papers, finance manager goes online completes the process, CU approves, you drive new Mini home.
