I am sure you do believe you have the best Mini the country and I am happy to see you participating in the PW series. I would like to see the series grow. But this series is to be a mirror image of the British series where the driver, and not the car, is supposed to be the champion.

1st, no real competition except for the turbo car only making 70% power, driven by a first time competitor and first time ever in the turbo MINI. The other MINi Mania car bailed out early and was falling apart
Sebring
2nd (fuel pump relay - still finished) looked like there was still duct tape holding the relay in at gateway. Lucky for you, you kicked out the relay at the entrance to pit row.
St. Louis
2nd in someone else's borrowed street car! all you had to do was glide around the track and finish, wow good work after crashing in practice
2nd same as above...
Summit Point
1st With a failed ABS car hot on your tail the ENTIRE TIME, so much for the twincharged setup
2nd (out of fuel, but past the halfway mark of the race) Ouch! that's embarassing especially after Brian ran out of fuel in qualifing. Would have thought you both would have recalculated for the next race or did something else happen? Seems kinda fishy to most
Really Randy, until your able to put a few clean races under your belt like Steve I wouldn't be calling the Mule the fastest MINI
Funny, at the track you really seemed to be more down to earth about the whole series.
Don't get ticked at us for beating you twice with your "trick" cars - including the almighty MadDog!
Vegas
You are right about there being no real competition at Vegas, from you or Mini Mania who both showed up with your best stuff according to the pre-race hype.
Sebring
It is you and Steve who are lucky I kicked out the relay - take a look again at the video - I would have passed Steve (did pass Steve) and stuck it for the rest of the race. Why else would I have pulled in if the relay wasn't the culprit? Not sure what you are getting at here.
St. Louis
St. Louis was an unbelieveable event from the grassroots perspective, and I was humbled at the outpouring of effort there. Sorry you belittle it. We crashed for the same reason that Steve wasn't fast at Summit - except that the ABS failed at a more inopportune moment than it did for Steve, and I am happy for him with that - no one wishes a crash on anyone.
Summit Point
As far as Summit Point, we cruised at the event. When I get the in-car video, you can watch my shift points. When I needed to, I passed Steve. Again, watch his video. We were able to walk as needed - I love the TurboKompressor, and I'm sorry to see the Mad Dog kit not work as well, because it would've been fun to race. It did hurt to run out of fuel, but after the immense effort and lack of sleep from many folks, it was still a victory in our book.
I am saddened at all of the sour grapes here on NAM. I love this community, and because we are all into MINIs, we should certainly all work toward a common goal instead of having a pissing contest.
There have been good issues discussed here, and they can be constructively.
I TRULY BELIEVE WE NOW HAVE THE FASTEST MINI ON A ROAD COURSE, and it is due in large part to the community for supporting us. We have many more races and autocrosses than this NAMCC season under our belts cleanly. We will now continue to work on the car and make the street products and motorsports products we sell more and more reliable through the lessons we learn on the track.
Really George, it isn't you but Steve and his crew that make his car work. I respect Steve immensely. Once you get out there racing successfully, you can talk down to me. Until then, I would appreciate it if you let Steve, a real racer, do the talking.
I look forward to the next meeting!

"fastest MINI"....in the US even, lofty comments that are not very good sportsman like and would get you planted into the wall or spinning down the front stretch in other racing series. Making comments like that puts you in a class by yourself wearing your A*Shat proudly.
Get over yourself

It is all in good fun, and many, many White Roof Radio listeners and NAM enthusiasts have given quite a bit, and we have worked very hard to get to say that. I certainly want to be able to pay back the community with something, and showing then saying we have the fastest MINI - thanks to the help of everyone out there - is a small token.
Over myself I am!

John Paton, our driver at Precision, once told me he was a faster racer than me. So off we went to Oakland Valley to race our karts. He got by me using slower traffic as a pick and when we approached the hairpin at the top of the track I t-boned him, breaking a couple of his ribs. In the ensuing 15 years, though maybe true, he has never again mentioned he is or was faster than me.

Mostly a post to correct that I posted from Brian's account, but here are a few more thoughts:
There are just so many people who helped make this happen - more than 100 contributors - that I believe there are only a few naysayers here who bring down the entire mood. I am thrilled that we won and now appear to have a very tough MINI to beat.
I am thrilled that Steve got to take a win, he fought hard and his team did a great job with his car.
Let's be happy with the ability to go out there and race. There are a ton of folks who want me to be able to say that we have the fastest MINI, and it is certainly because of them that we do - they deserve to hear it and be proud of their names on the car!
Like I said, it is all in good fun, and if you don't know that, I am letting you know right now that I like to joke around. Not that I don't believe we do have the fastest MINI

I hate to write this but there is something distasteful about all this "smack" ......frankly it's embarassing to me as a Mini owner ...... WWF style self promotion ..... where is the humility/restaint and dignity .... to dmh point about money .... when/if the series attracts the guys with experience who are not on small budgets .... what will be the spin then .... the pond is small now ..... I can hear the response to this as I could write it myself ..... it is just discordant

Edit (see below). It was Randy who made the (distasteful) statement or “smack” that got more than me aroused by claiming, out of the blue clear sky, that the has the fastest road race Mini. I have no dog in this fight and do not care one way or the other. I merely offered him a chance to back it up – gentleman like. This offer is more common than you probably realize. He then proceeded to write that unlimited racing has too many variables, making my point exactly.
Randy seems to be using this series as a marketing tool but to be fair to those who only read the headlines, posts #70 and #102 should be noted (at least in the small print).
No Alain, I am not speaking of you. You race in a series with rules like the kind Wicks envisions for his US series so you wouldn’t run into the type of cars/owners I am speaking about. The cars I am speaking about are “loosely” based on the Mini like that of Randy’s mule.
*Edit: I think I mistook some of SpiderX's comment wrongly for he notes the WWF self promotion. I apologize.

People are bashing the ONLY MINI series in the US, using Safety to hide behind without having much if any racing or track experience, calling out our and all of the enthusiasts who have supported our efforts, and just plain bending the truth.
I have frankly become jaded, due in large part to some of the attitudes here at NAM. I have not posted nearly as often, and wonder where some folks are coming from in regard to specific attitudes.
I made a bold statement about my car - one that I believe - and one that could not have come about without the help of our community. I deeply believe they are entitled to see a car like the Mule.
As far as the rules go in the NAMCC, I think they are right on. The cars in each class have been extremely competitive, some with vastly different approaches and budgets. That to me says the rule sets are pretty accurate.
There are other series as well - BMWCCA's DM, and NASA's GTS to name two prominent sanctioning bodies - that allow modifications galore. These are very exciting series. It is like saying, let's not do F1 anymore because it is too far out there (or the CanAm or GTP days for that matter). It is great to see how far a MINI can go.
I'm all done with mudslinging, egos, claims, etc. I just want to see the MINI Community have a great series, and I personally want a place to take the Mule and have a chance to run against other MINIs.
Can't we all just get along

If I have done anything at all to offend anyone, I will fully and publicly retract it in the name of getting back on track with the intent of returning NAM to its former happy place. If you think it is over the top and WWF style for me to claim the Mule is the fastest road course MINI - it isn't, it is a slug. I fully retract the statement and wish I had never thrown it out there.
Now let's all be happy together and work toward making this series and every other avenue for the MINI a better place.
Randy
Racing against other Mini’s is supposed to be what the Mini Challenge is all about both here and Britain. At least that is what PW told me last week. In order to build a spec Mini series promotion of driver skill, and not racing budget, has to be the main factor. Seeing how far a Mini can go is great, just not great for race sanctioning bodies whose main goal is increasing the number of participants. Remember, the winner of this series will be competing in England in “equally” prepared Minis.
Long live the Slug
No, that doesn't seem right. From an outsiders view (well somewhat) I took it all in fun. So the Mule is the fastest road course MINI..., now everyone has something to shoot for, or prove it isn't so. Is it the fastest, I don't know, but I'm sure the next few races will be great. Just wish I could be there to see some.
Relax everyone, its all in good fun. I love reading about these races, but fear what these threads turn into. Its not hard to become jaded
.
Randy, Brian, Steve, Waylen, and everyone else who is racing in these events, THANKS and keep it up, you have more followers than you know

you are truly piece of work. In that one post you sling it and in the next paragraph you call for peace.
You post here in your 'damage controle' post that you are just having fun, it's all about fun, but if you read the thread it was you that jumped on those that were in fact having fun at your expense. You are the one that stirred the pot here and threw out the first spears, and now you are on some kind of damage control to try and clean up the mess.
Fact is you know absolutely nothing of my racing background as I have never gone there with anyone but maybe one or two people here. I never felt I had to in order to make myself look good, it's just not important to me. What were you doing 32 years ago Randy?
You come up with ONE SINGLE FACT that shows that I do not know what I'm talking about in that thread in which I brought up safety issues. You showed in that thread just how much safety means to you and the fact that you let your young employee show up to race with car that in no way was safe is just showing your true colors here. You hate the fact that I actually pointed out that you may not be "Mr Racer", so you go on the attack about me.
You are all about you. Your humbleness is no existent. You just plane rub people the wrong way these days. You are suffering from what I call the Tom Cruise syndrome. Like someone posted here, get over yourself. It's getting unbearable.
Oh, and by the way, Wicks is NOT the only Mini series in the US.

And are proud of the fact that you did.
Greg,
I do not know your background, but I do know that you have been bitter toward me personally and have used Saftey to act as the Ralph Nader of racing.
I do know that I have been out there racing in some sort in many different classes for the last 15 or so years, and I also know that my cars are safe - two sanctioning bodies besides Phil Wicks have said so. We have log books for both cars.
Arm restraints are fine for cars without window nets. The harness has to be in a place to adjust shoulder harnesses in the seat, so the adjusters, as long as they are wrapped the correct way, are perfectly safe being in front of the seat instead of behind. I'm not sure what other issues you have with our cars, but just because you do doesn't make it unsafe - NASA, SCCA and Phil Wicks have stated such. I applaud your concern for safety, but there are circumstances you cannot possibly know and are not a part of that you are commenting on with total assumed authority.
I am not posting damage control - just posting with sincere concern for this community and what it has turned into. Like I said, I am certainly jaded after reading post after post - most of which I haven't even been involved in - with attitudes that are simply unexplainable. I am not trying to be Mr. Racer - in fact I wanted to get out all together, but folks in this community wanted me to stay in it.
I don't think this is a mess because of my statements. I think this is a mess because of certain egos - and I am certainly one of them, and for that apologized and tried to get above some of this absolute bullshite. If that is construed from you as damage control so be it - can we be friends now and work together in this very small community instead of competing for who is Mr. Racer? You can be Mr. Racer (but you have to get your car out there first
).
I didn't jump on anyone - Mickey and I are what I would consider friends, and he was joking and I was joking - not sure what else you may be referring to.
Again, if I rub people the wrong way, I sincerely apologize - this board and the community can work you over and change you - I am going on a vacation. It certainly seems there are still true enthusiasts out there supporting us with their hard earned money and encouraging phone calls, cards and emails.
I was 3 years old 32 years ago for the record.
I hope that answers your questions, though I doubt it will help resolve anything. Whatever would I would be happy to do - I hate the crap on the boards more than anyone.

Anyone else here notice the Hit and Run the Madness guys did?
They turned this thread into a hive, then took off running! I bet they enjoying it more than anyone.
If they really do get mad when Randy says his car is faster than theirs, then someone should send them tissues for the glove box. Aight.

I have an idea - why don't you all save your big speeches, your rants, and your criticisms of each other.........write them down - but not here. Most of us have had enough.
Then why don't you all pick a place, any place - a half way point from where you all live............
Meet there on a Friday night and discuss all of your issues like men - face to face, and stop taking swipes at each other here. You're turning this place into a f***ing soap opera.
Greg, you can voice your safety concerns and the fact that M7 didn't get a nod in the official PW statement. Jerry and Randy, you can discuss ways to attract more support and grow the series without alienating people who are concerned about proper safety, George, you can air out your concerns about what Webb's sponsors "mush" think, and Don you can throw in whatever you want.
I'm sure a face to face meeting would be a lot more amicable and constructive than these pissy threads continue to degenerate into.
And even if it wasn't, maybe you all can take some of your latent passive aggressivity out on each other where the rest of us don't have to listen to it.
