I really don't want to argue with any of you guys. I don't have the time, I have customer cars to work on, phone calls to answer, and emails to return.

As for how points are earned you need to bring that up with Phil, I didn't make the rules.

As for switching classes, why don't you want me to run in the unlimited class? Why all the push to run with Brian? I much rather run a unlimited HP car. It would be alot more fun, especially with the Turbo. Or even no Turbo just 250HP. Oh and last of all why doesn't any of you guys bring any of this up at the track, in real life, in person face to face???? Is it just easier to sit here and punch buttons on a keyboard??

See I can do this trash talk, and BS too. Back to real work.

That is an interesting usage of the word "earned."

Thats true for this last event, but I was told Matt was not going to come to Carolina because of solo nationals.

I would rather have my hands full with two cars...

How about a Turbo Kit and I'll run with Steve and Randy?? I already have a stock pulley.
Waylen, I think George is offering you a smaller pulley, he is aware that you have a stock pulley.
Anyway, we thought you might actually get to race someone, not much glory claiming wins in class when you don't have nor will you have in this series.
I surely would not even bother if I had no competion.

Mainly because that would be the easiest(and cheapest) route to race in a populated class.

I just think it would be more fun for both fans and racers if you were to prep the car for class 4. You are not going to risk loosing your overall points lead(unless you dont finish) by racing directly against me.

I was thinking about droping to class 3 for this reason, but now that I cant take the points lead by beating you, it doesnt seem logical. I am just hoping the JCW car will make an apearance at this next event so I can live up to the stickers you made .

Randy, Do you even know the rules? Do you even have an SCCA rulebook?
If so, maybe you need to look at it again. 17.30

Again, read the rulebooks. No region may eliminate or rewrite the rules written in the rulebooks, most importantly in the CCR section.

Again, you seem to be having a hard time interpreting the rules. It's unfortunate that you are misinforming so many here with these 'opinions' which are not backed up by any written CCRs that I know of.

I have been in contact with Mr. Simpson (now the owner of Impact) about these problems. After reading this I again let him know that there are some that feel that the belts in Brian's car are installed as per Simpson instructions. Though he is not the owner of Simpson any longer, I think his answer will enlighten at least one of us (maybe me..). His only comment to me so far was that the harness bar is way too low.

This is what is bothersome Randy. This is bad "general info" as you put it. I would rather not that someone who was getting started in racing think that they should follow your lead with this kind of rule interpretation that you are offering up here on NAM. I back up my statements here with written rules. I'm not sure what yours are backed up with? Sounds like you are saying .."Hey, I get away with it, so go ahead and do it also, It's OK."

My point exactly Don, I tried to help Phil revise the point system early in the game but he would not consider it.
It is absurd to award points for anyone that has no competitor in his his class. Even worse is awarding bonus points for Pole or fastest lap when they did not earn them.
Phil could have said: hey guys(Brian & Waylen), let's combine class 3 & 4 since there is a lack of entries necessry to have all the clases.
Waylen's car doesn't need much more than a pulley to be competitive in Brian's class.
As for Randy earning points by borrwing a car after his crash is rediculous! Who else would have that option if they had crashed or experienced mechanical failure.
The rules have been poorly written, the winnr of this event should receive the prize for actually winning, not just cruising around the track evrey race.
Nothing against Waylen, he just doesn't deserve to be leading the overall points.
Steve

Steve, I know how frustrating this must be for you.
But let's not put drivers in a bad place because they are only following Wicks rules. That stuff does hurt to the core, and I do speak from experience.
Just go with the rules that Wicks lays down and concrats to the guy that has done his best to come out on top.
See what happens next season with this stuff. Don't try and change them in late season and take it away from the points leader. If it remains the same next year then you can choose whether or not to participate.
You are a great driver with a great car. I could only hope that I could even keep up with you myself when the time comes in BMWCCA.

I hate to see that this series is causing riffs between the vendors and most importantly between the drivers. It doesn't look real good to the readers.

Have fun guys... OH... and be safe.

Have you seen Webb’s latest Vendor announcement? In it he posted a picture of himself with his arm out the window showing his “I’m number one” sign. His proclamation of the fastest road racing Mini is what I think gets everyone going (including me and I have no dog in this fight). How about some truth in advertising?

Some of this sort of reminds me of folks who disagreed with the outcome of the Presidential election a few years ago... asserting that the popular vote should be more important than the electoral accounting. The candidate who can claim victory though is the one who wins the electoral college. Like it or not, those are the rules...

The reality is that much strategy and compaining tactics went into winning by the prescribed rules. The time to address any short-comings in the rules is prior to involvement. I can't fault any of the drivers, and I don't feel that any of us should. Contest the rules and the source of them. It seems like this was attempted though. Changing them mid-stream, as I think Greg said, would not be fair though...

Many of these threads keep coming-back to defeciencies in the Series, and/or with PW. Maybe it's worth keeping these threads more on track, and starting a "PW Wish-List" thread?

It sounds to me the series is going through "growing pains" pure and simple..... very few things are right "out of the box" especially entities who have very limited budgets.....even the NFL has a "rules committee" and constantly looks for ways to improve the league.... I'm not certain but I am not aware of rule changes during the season..... as far as limited competition... were there not only 6 teams in the original NHL..... things take time to grow and evolve.

Growing-pains for sure. Being open to change needs to be there though. Even changing the rules early-on, when the point deltas were much less, would have been acceptable even. According to Steve, this was attempted, but to no avail.

From what I'm hearing, there's not a sense that input is appreciated; or at least taken seriously. This will need to change before one can expect improvement.

I think there are many of us who want to see this Series suceed, but recognize that some things need to change, some more pressing than others. I still think a thread just dedicated to this topic would be most appropriate though...

Then there is a simple solution, just race and beat him.

No,no,no... International hand signal rules set in NASA CCR, paragraph 19.5.1 as follows:

HAND SIGNALS

19.5.1 Slowing Down - driver

Whenever a driver is entering the pits or is no longer driving at normal traffic speed, he
must extend his/her arm out the driver’s window with hand in vertical position and
fingertips towards the sky.

I think there are a lot of people with passion who are posting on these forums, and I am certainly one of them.

My guess is that if we all got together person to person, there would be some lively discussion and debate, but that we would like and respect one another. For example at the Phil Wicks Laguna Seca event last Dec. (my first track day), there were probably 80+ MINIS, Minis, and MiNi enthusiasts - and it was an absolute blast! Perhaps we should plan to meet out at the track, run some laps in our (differentially tuned, caged and cageless) MINIS, and then go out for some pints afterwards?!

Are any of you guys going out the MINIs on the Mountains? There is a track day that week at Pueblo Motorsports park(a really fun local po-dunk track) that would be perfect!

I echo this ...Summit Point was my first - and I thought it was a blast! Would have been perfect if I was able to hang around for the pints that apparently flowed in Frederick afterward....but MINI ownership should be about having fun! ...and not arguing
