Alternator

Shopping for a reasonable price on an alternator for my 04 'S' I see there are a whole lot of alternators to choose from.
Power Select, TYC, Valeo. Then there are the remanufactured ones - Bosch, Acdelco, Pure Energy, OEM ($309), Denso and Remy.
What one do I need?

They all have a 1-year guarantee - rebuilt or new. Purely from a cost perspective, rebuilt makes more sense because they're very likely to last well beyond a year.

Which one would be the better one among the list?

I installed a AC Delco this summer. Had an issue with the first Delco took it in and was replaced with a good one. Counter guy mentioned it has a “lifetime” warranty. Not sure if that helps your decision process. As I recall there is a member here selling a new Denso. I can look him up if you like. I found him his user name is phoR53

I only use and recommend the Denso as I've seen many issues with other brands and even taken off brand new other brand ones that didn't work.

We are on year two with the second O’Reilly reman. Since I needed it quick, I paid $180.

The first one gave up after just 3 weeks. The second alt was a denso and was in better rebuilt condition. Who knows how long it will last...

It does have a lifetime warranty so we fully intend to utilize it when the time comes.

Ditto...
I had to get the one before this Denso quick, so had to get a reman. Delco, only lasted about 2500 miles before it started coming apart internally and sparking from the parts inside touching while rotating. (And yes, I'll agree that a new Delco probably wouldn't have had this problem, but most people don't want to pay that price, if they can find an actual new one.)
