I've read many threads on NAM about this, and from what I've seen, one of the best places is on eBay, of all places.

They're about 800, and you get them on ebay.

You can post a Want to Buy thread in Marketplace like this one-
https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...GP+intercooler

You can also search for GP intercooler.

Sometimes vendors have them from special orders.

Low price is about $600-700

Ebay is out right now but keep looking.

(So NO, you cannot order one from a dealership)!

They're kind of sticklers about the exclusive GP parts not going to non-GP owners. It keeps the value of the GP higher; not being able to build-your-own GP...

Alta Classic IC is bigger than a GP

However I bought a GP because it flows better internally and it was the opinion here on NAM that the GP was the best top mount air to air.I have not installed the GP yet.

Sense you are in Turkey you might want to call the dealership there and see what they say as I don't think Mini is as tight with the GP parts in some parts of the world as they are in the US.

The GP intercooler could be ordered from the dealership but only for a GP owners using their VIN number and ordering a replacement part.
This doesn't always work since the wait for the part is very long if even possible.

More likely sometimes on ebay a source in Europe/Germany will find some and sell them for about $650 each plus shipping or auction to highest bidder.

Sometimes a vendor will buy some and sell for $700 on NAM.

GP intercooler has two more rows so about 20% larger and is less prone to heat soak. Some think it is quite efficient and will work fairly well.

Larger Intercoolers from various sources can initially work OK but they tend to not cool off that well once they become heat soaked.

If the fins are crooked then gently work them back into place with a tweezer if you can. maybe a sharp and small screwdriver would work. Be careful.

Don't we all want a GP intercooler....

You can purchase one here: http://www.miniworksportugal.com/dep...igem-10048.cfm

Just about $400 USD (with current conversion rate).

Good luck,
Ike

Luys, what do you mean when you say twisted? And what part on the intercooler is twisted?

You are right...it might not be a real GP and there is no way to be sure without seeing it in person. I don't know these guys very well, but have purchased many things from EU over the years (doesn't bother me at all) and have never been disappointed. This of course doesn't mean that it won't happen, just that it hasn't. Caveat emptor!!!

The Portugal site has a great blow up image of the intercooler. It has 13 cores. Tag info says BEHR L5890000 Top numer is 1751 7565302-01. Germany 31.08.07 as the mfg date. Who wants to do research? USD is $394.12. ;-)

You can actually see the weld line for the additional two rows of intercooler material. The one in the picture is a GP intercooler (or a very good knockoff).

You can find a comparison here: http://www.gpmini.net/wp/2006/10/intercooler_comparison

How can a person be sure before he pays? The same question gets repeated over and over. Someone has to be the first victim.

Why don't you be the first person, and let us all know how it turns out? Every purchase is that way, particularly from boards like this (ie the parts subforum). That's is why I said "let the buyer beware". If you want, you could post on the mini2.com forum and ask for references. That would be a start.

Here...I did it for you. http://www.mini2.com/forum/general-d...ml#post3397102

17517565302 is the MINI part number for the Charge Air-cooler. If you could order it from Pelican Parts it would cost $299.25.

You still need to source the Sealing Plate (17517565345) and Air Duct (51134404668).
