BBS LM Replicas???

Ok, I have looked around for BBS LM replicas in 18s but have not found them in a 4x100 bolt pattern. In fact, I couldn't find 17s either. I contacted 2 different manufacturers of the replicas and asked if they had any interest in making a small run of the wheels in a bolt pattern and offset for the MINI.

I haven't heard back from them but am curious if anyone else is interested. For now I'll say just 18, but it could maybe include 17s? Price for replicas currently sold is between $700 and $840 (depending on manufacturer) for the 18s so I'd expect somewhere around there if they even consider making some. Anyone?

Oh and, they won't be light lol.. Prolly 22-24lbs per wheel. Purely just for looks...

Let us know if you get in contact with them.

Will do, GTuning Werks and ALT Wheels are the companies I contacted. Right now I'm researching 5 lug adapters but with such low offsets to start with, it'll be hard to run these wheels. Offset I found was +35, so figure it out lol...

I talked with an ALT distributer about a year ago and he said there are no 4x100 versions of the wheel and it was going to be discontinued shortly anyway.

Wait another year and Rota will probably have one!

Also, the style-to-weight-to-price-to-quality ratio is debatable. There are so many wheels out there. . .

The ALT Wheel company is still making the LM replica's. They go under the name Type 279 or Tangent. If it isn't ALT brand it is Miro brand (same company).

There are several people running these wheels on BMW, VW, Audi and they haven't had any problems. Yes they weight a lot, but I personally don't care, I don't track, autocross, or drag my car. Even then, they are the same weight as the S-Lites so it's fine lol...

And yes, there are many wheels out there but I have very particular tastes and aside from a few wheels that are relatively inexpensive, all the others I like are custom (DPE, iForged, HRE, etc.) and I don't have the income for those wheels any time soon. I want something different that not everyone has while still looking good (read: not rice).

I have time as I won't be able to purchase these till after summer anyway. I am hoping that GT Werks will come through and produce a limited run of 4x100 wheels. The wheels they currently have are 18x8 (5x120) et35, which is fine for the MINI aside from the bolt pattern. Who knows, we'll see what they say...

ewww replicas? Really? Gross

You will never be able to match the BBS finish or quality....and thats what's so good about them. You can find mesh wheels anywhere.....but not many with the same quality.

My income isnt great either as I'm a college student....but i just waited until i could find a nice used set of rare BBS's. It's worth it in the end...I've had konigs and fliks on the my ride...and both wheels were cool styles, but their finish and quality just wasn't good enough.

true bbs's fit and finish is almost untouchable with some replicas
BUT
GTWerks are knowns as one of the best looking LM replica so far.. and they really do look great...

I wouldn't mind running replica LMs while my RXs are taking a break

Well BBS DID make a 4x100 LM wheel. I have seen them up close. But, that was a very long time ago and I have not seen them since. There are like 1 or 2 floating around this board with them. Whatever you do....do try and copy that wheel....

Yes I'm aware they made them in a 4x100 but only in a 17. They never made them in an 18. I know, I know, replicas yuckkk, BUTTTT like sprp85 said, the GTWerks reps are pretty damn nice if you ask me.

If i'm going to spend 4G's on wheels I want to be 100% satisfied, and I just wouldn't be completely satisfied with 17s, I'd need 18's. So replicas really aren't that bad afterall.

Either way, things aren't looking too hot so we'll see where this takes us...

LM's dont really have much lip...just get 5 lug+adapters if you want 18s

If you want to be 100% satisfied and have 4 G's to drop on wheels call Fikse.

Hmm ahhh hahaha, whats the biggest offset that BBS LM's come in? The smallest thickness of an adapter needs to 25mm, so I'd need like a et50-60... the search begins as does the saving..

I dont know...but konky posted pics of a MINI rocking 5 lug 18" LM's....so it must be out there. Generally porsche fitment is what you look for

Or check out the 18" rial negaros....they come in 4x100...and i think the rial daytonas do too

and if you're willing to step away from 18...you should check this deal out...its pretty amazing: jlines http://forums.vwvortex.com/zerothread?id=3124585

Rally, those JLines are SICK. There's only certain 16s I'll put on a MINI and those are definitely one of them lol. I think though that if I'm going to spend like 2-3G's on wheels i'll go with either DPE (R07 Variant S) or iForged (Equips) in 18s. I get discounts with both through work so thats why.

Konky, do you still have the pic of the MINI on 5 lug 18" LM's ?? I just HAVE to see what it looks like..

To be honest, I don't see myself saving that much money to spend on wheels. My income just won't cut it lol I'll have to wait like a year or more. Maybe get some temporary wheels??

Wow Rally. That is just plain SICKENING!!!! Nicest setup I've seen lol. Glad to see someone else has similar tastes to me. Even the quad tips. If only it wasn't a cab' lolol...

By any chance do you know what the final offset on that setup is. I'm guessing like a 20 or so by the way the poke out...

Oh and, if anyone needs high-end wheels let me know. I can offer pretty good pricing and could also get group buys going. Help me buy 18x8 BBS LM haha...

I dont know....depends on the adapters he used....i would assume he went wider in back for the stagger he has....presumably if they are 8 wide he is about 25-30?

**UPDATE**

Well I heard back from ALT. Their minimum run of units is 800. That would be 200 sets of wheels. That is obviously not possible, I am going to respond and see if they are will to make a run of the wheels. I'd obviously need to show them that theres more than just a few people interested. We'll see what happens, still haven't heard back from GT Werks, I'll wait and see what they say.

I have seen ALTs in person and they are not comparable to GTwerks. I really hope GTwerks would run a batch... anyways.. to ya!

I am not vibin' on that particular fit of those LM's. But for me....I just cant justify anything over a grand for wheels on the Mini. Now, the BMW (DPE or I-Forged) or the Touareg (22" OZ's) I can!

I feel ya on that one, but I don't have any other cars lol. Yeah I'm not digging all the poke on the 18s above. But the wheels themselves look sweet on the MINI. An et35 would be PERFECT, up there has to be something like 20-25 cuz at 35 the wheel sits flush with the fender trim. Or so it seems by the pics I've seen lol...

Is there any interest on iForged, DPE, etc. on here? I could arrange a group buy through the local shop I work at. Could make them a tiny bit more affordable lol...

**UPDATE**

Well I finally heard back from Frank at GT Werks. He is willing to do a limited run but I would need to set up a group buy because they have to order a minimum of 10 sets from the factory. They only have 18x8.5 available but it will be in a 4x100 bolt pattern. In the e-mail I sent him I said the offset needed to work on a MINI, something from an et37 to et45, so I'm guessing we can choose the offset.

With the 8.5in wide wheel I think we'd need something a little smaller than the usual et45. I think an et37 would be far enough out to clear the inside but not too far out to rub on the fenders. A 215/35/18 would look sweet on the 8.5in wide wheel. This is definitely better news than ALT, PLUS the GT Werks wheels look better and closer to the real thing. I for one can't buy wheels right now, but if there is interest I will gladly setup the group buy.
