This may be a first for a MINI - thoughts?

Well, I've been a member of NAM for a couple years now and I finally got a MINI Now I'm looking for some new shoes! My MC is JB/W with a checkerboard roof on order. I'm considering a set of 17" SportMax 006 gloss black w/ anodized red lip. If I get those I'd like to get red mirror caps to match.

Am I crazy? I really want to do it, but I'm a little scared to pull the trigger. It's hard to say how it would look because I think I'd be the only MINI running them. Would anyone out there be willing to do a little photoshop of the wheels w/ the red mirror caps?

What do you think? My other choices are black TD Pro Race 1.2's or Flik Whasps (black w/ stainless lip) which are both much less "bold".

Here's my MINI and a pic of the SportMax 006's

Thanks for looking!

I think it would work AND it would be unique.

Thanks! I was hoping for something unique but tasteful at the same time!

Do it!! I think it'd look cool, especially with the red mirror caps. Being unique is a good thing.... as long as it's not a *weird* unique.

I think that would look totally hot, and as was mentioned, get the red mirror caps to set them off. That would be a very cool look...

you won't be the first, or the second. I'd say skip it, as they are cheap copies of the real thing (Volk Time Attacks) - before people get beat up about it...it's a unique look and it's a Volk thing and it only works on some cars and some colors (black with white roof, notsomuch).

and mine, ready to go on the car as soon as the weather breaks.

one more thing....those SportMaxx's have a HUGE red lip. The Volk's are much more subtle....about 1/4 the amount of red.

Oh poo. Get the Sportmaxes. It's a cool look and at least the guy down the street won't have it. So there's a couple more in the country with red lips? You want to be really unique? Get you a set of those daisy wheels.

Seriously, get em and you'll be fine.

If YOU like it, thats what counts. I say do it if you think it will look good. To each his own!

I appreciate the insight everyone. I will have a checkerboard roof next week...so my roof won't be all black. I guess the only thing I'm worried about is the amount of read...it may be a little much. Although I really do like that it is a darker red.

PGT - I wasn't trying to say I would be the only one running wheels w/ a red lip on a MINI...I was just saying that I don't think anyone has these wheels on a MINI yet. I respect your opinion...I'm really not sure what I'm going to do.

Anyone interested in doing a little photoshopping?

I've had black wheels with a red lip on my MINI for over a year now (they were backordered, took a few months to get them and then painting took a while). I really wish some of these others had been available when I odered mine... sure would have been a lot less trouble than having mine custom painted. At the time, I found a few sets but nothing in the right bolt pattern or insanely expensive.

I'd agree with you. Nothing a set of 18 and 19" BBS CH couldn't fix

PGT, when are you going to put yours on? Love them on the GP.

Yeah, I'm starting to think the same myself. Too bad I couldn't just try it out! I'll keep thinking, but maybe the TD Pro Race 1.2's are the way to go...

Still can't decide

Well, I still can't decide what to go with. I am still temped to get the black/red 006's...just thought I'd see if anyone would be willing to do a little photoshop work. Pretty please?

On another note, I got the JCW Sound Kit and checkerboard roof installed...AWESOME

Still wouldn't be "unique". AprilWhine had these on her convertible for a while.

These were custom-made, though. At the time, there weren't daisy wheels available with the correct bolt pattern.

What I've *never* seen on a MINI are the old Ronal "Teddy Bear" wheels:
