Should we rotate run flats?

Hi there,

I've heard conflicting advice on run flats. Some say to never rotate them, others do to even out the wear. What's the bottom line? Thanks

Rotate them, period. My 16" Dunlop DSST 5000 runflat tires that came with my '05 MCS have lasted me nearly 22K miles and probably will make it to 28-30K miles by the time they need replacement. Thanks to rotations (Front to back) every 5K miles, these tires have lasted 2 years so far.

In my first MCS (2004) I made the stupid mistake of not rotating at all, and the front tires were chewed up and gone by 15K miles. The rears had 75% of the thread left, but since the rear tire alignment is different from the front, the thread was already "scalloped", so putting these on the front would meant vibrations on the steering wheel and lots of tire roar noise.

This is a front wheel drive car and tire rotations are a given if "MINIUSA" doesn't recommend periodic tire rotations.

Thanks C4

I marked my tires when I pulled them off and switched to snow tires. It seems crazy not to rotate them but never had run flats before. So, sounds like I only need to move them front to back, no left to right. Thanks again.

I rotated the GY NCT run flats on my wife's Cooper for 45k miles and 2 1/2 years with no trouble.

I am taking Jerome in for it's first sched Oil Change, how much do you think I'll get charged for rotating the tires? I'd do it myself except my place is rather strict on car repairs.

Dealers tend to charge outrageous amounts ($60 or more?) to rotate. Come by Santa Cruz - only takes a few minutes.

I would except I won't be in that area at a half way decent time. I'll keep that in mind for the future though.

If you want to get the most mileage out of any tire, be it runflat of coventional....Rotate them! I do mine at every oil change. That's 5,000 miles on my oil change schedule.
