Volk TE-37 on JCW?
I found a used set of Volk TE-37 and I am thinking of buying them as my track rims. Anyone know anything about these and will they clear the JCW BBK?
Yeah, I'd like to know the answer as well. Will the Volk TE37 in 17 x 7.5 with 48mm fit? But we're planning to using them as our street wheels. Will the OEM size 205/45-17 (24.2 diameter) fit?
We're also thinking of a better tire like the Hankook R-S2 Z212 in a 215/40-17 (23.8 diameter).

I have TE-37 17x7.5" +40mm and they have plenty of room for BBK. I'm not sure if +48mm will have enough clearance for JCW brakes (but they should).

TE 37 s are great wheels. Very strong. I purchased a new set last year. in 17x7 with 40 mm offset. Awesome wheels but they required 40 series tires (215x40x17) to prevent rubbing on the outside fender well. I like 45 series tires because of the nicer ride. 48 mm offset would have worked but Volk did not produce them in the 4x100 bolt pattern, they said they wouldn't.
The LE 37 did come in 48 mm offset though but thats not a TE37. So I'm confused, did they start making the TE 37 in 48 mm offset??? If they did Im buying new wheels!!! Be careful that what you are getting is 48mm and not 40 mm offset. Especially if you want to run taller 45 series tires.
As a rule , with stock suspension 7 inch rims in 36 mm offset will rub a little on the plastic outer liner with 215x45x17 tires. (My volk GTUs are of that ilk but I can live with the occasional rub on the plastic liner.) On the other hand 7.5 inch wheels in 40 mm offset stick out too far and require 215x40x17 tires to prevent rubbing on the outer fender wells. The ride is harsher and the tire doesn't fill up the fender well as much as the 45s.
Moral = make sure they are really 48 mm offset.
Volks are designed to accomodate BBK. The 40 mm offset accomodated a BBK with tons of room to spare. with the 48s that shouldnt be a problem considering all the room the 40s had. lt would be tighter by only 8 mm and I had a lot more room than that. Get a brake template from your brake manufactor and it will allow you to measure the space needed. I emailed Volk (Rays) to find out if they are making TE 37 in 48mm offset. I want some!!!
