I am looking at the same thing, and created this thread https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...ad.php?t=64372

I also created a poll at M2 to see if others can help deciding:
http://www.mini2.com/forum/wheels-ty...size-poll.html

What is your offset and width anyway?

This is my setup. 18x7.5 W/+42 0ffset . DYSON is lowered 2" W/ no rubbing what so ever. Tire size is 215-35-18. I'm looking for a little better ride so I'm thinking of going with a 215-40-18 but would like to see a few pictures first.

I think the factory JCW wheels come with 215 40 18's, so it might be worth a try to find some images of cars with those wheels.

I think the JCW is wrapped with 205/40/18 instead.

Yes, that is correct. JCW's come with 205/40/18 . Pictures can be seen in my gallery.

don't have photos, but I'm running 215-40-18 for the last 3 weeks. No rubbing, no problems. They look great. Highly recommend. Can't imagine lowering with those though. The gapping is less than stock, but still visible. I dream of the zeemax kit later, so I'm not interested in lowering.

What is the offset and width of your wheels?

Comparison using Toyo Proxes 4 for each tire:
215/35-18 tire diameter 24.0" 20.3 pounds rim width 7-8.5" 84 load rating
215/40-18 tire diameter 24.8" 20.9 pounds rim width 7-8.5" 89 load rating
205/40-18 tire diameter 24.5" 20.5 pounds rim width 7-8" 86 load rating

Stock size
205/45-17 tire diameter 24.4" 20.5 pounds rim width 6.5-7.5" 88 load rating

If you need a 40 series tire the best match seems to be 205/40-18.
215/40-18 will fit with normal suspension but once you lower your MINI you can run the risk of rubbing especially in the back or with four people in your car.

You can also get a slightly smoother ride by adjusting alignment to factory specs.
