Wheel offset +42 or +48 what would you use?

To all,
If you could get a semi custom built light weight wheel in a 17 X 7 w/ +48 or +42 offset (it's only a 1/4 inch.) which offset would you use. We are using a +48 wheel now w/ a 215/45-17 with NO rubbing! When these tires need to be replaced I will go to a 225/45-17. ( I want to stuff the biggest fattest tire I can under the fenders.) Before some of you start crying my speedo will be off. I already check that with a radar gun! One of my freinds is a Police officer. He got out the tuning fork, check his gun then we check the speedo. It's 2 MPH fast at 45 mph. with 215/45's with 37 psi. So to you that have had 225/45-17's or those who may know, what offset would you use?

Thanks for your time!

I think that if you only have a choice between the two, I'd say the 48, but you may need spacers with 225s. Your 225s will most likely rub the rear trailing arm and the front strut with a 48 offset.
45 is the better offset to start with. With my Hoosier 225 rains I need a 5mm spacer up front and a 3mm on the rear with my 17x7.5x45 wheels.....but also had to do a lot of fender work for them to clear. (Car is lowered)

How would a 215 fit with +45 offset on a 7.5 inch wheel?

i would do +48 because if you're not happy, you can get a pair of
5mm spacers and have +48 and +43. two choices.

I could machine off 3mm./ 1/16" off the hub face of the wheel to get a +45mm offset. NO track days for this car. If I did go to the track I would just watch or get a shiftier cart.
