Dented a BBS RV-F last night

"I was driving minding my own business........." I hit a hole and dented my wheel..... $500. .... it's just a wheel and only money......hell I broke my neck 2 1/2 years ago.....but I wish I hadn't done it. I hope the local wheel shop can fix it......

sorry to hear. that really sucks.

ive had success with www.wheelcollision.com in the past.

btw, you can make a formal claim to the village/city where
the pot hole was to get the road repaired. I doubt they
would do anything for your wheel, but at least your letter
will make them aware and be on the look out to fix it.

also your insurance co will be able to cover you as a one
car collision. Depending on your deductible and amount
they would help you without increasing preminum (usually
up to $500 per claim), it might be wise to use that too.
I am sure you will want to get an alignment done too, so
things could add up quickly.

I was slightly off a "country road" and i went back today and there is a huge hole .... my fault....it was dark.....I brought protection but didn't use it. (protection=staying alert and using common sense)

Yes, funny how often when people bend a wheel they do not realize just what they hit. BBS wheels prides themselves in strong wheels first then weight reduction..

corners through Malibu. BOOM BOOM! bye bye $1k+.

Spider,

I hit a huge pothole last spring and dented one of my BBS RGRs. It's now a very highly poished table; I designed a set of legs very much in keeping with the look of the wheel. These legs support the bottom of the wheel and extend up slightly over the lip - to avoid the dent. The glass top sits within three flanges about 1.5" above the face of the wheel. The three legs take on the same profile as the mesh in the wheel. All polished Aluminum. Five legs would have been more stable...

Go make a table

Running 17" or 18" rims on a MINI and maintaining anything close to the stock rolling radius gives you very little sidewall depth to cushion those potholes...it's like driving on rubber bands.

Bolt it to the side of your garage for a place to hang your garden hose. Kind of redneck but what the hell.

bent wheel

Sounds like bad and $$ news. Must have been a big hit because BBS's are tough!

Check out Hemmings Motor News www.hemmings.com. There are several vendors listed that specilize in repairing damaged/bent wheels. It might be worth fixing.....................(MTR ON)...................................mgg

SpiderX, what did you end up having to do? Repair, replace? Any pics of the damaged wheel?

It was a lot easier than I thought. The dent was on the inside so no repaint was necessary. A wheel shop in Smyrna, GA "pressed" it out..... I had them put a rush on it and had it back in 24hrs for $135. They have the wheel within original specs and I can't tell any dif....no pics,...sorry

Thanks for asking

my dad has a 5 series with the optional 19' sports rims and he has already had the set replaced once, and the tires replaced twice because of horrible pot holes on the way to work on 206 and 287. Its really annoying, and very expensive, spiderx, glad to hear it worked out for you!
