Ha ha ha! Thank you all for the photos, but I need a little more convincing, please:

1. Anyone have a pic of a PW/B MCS with graphite Rewinds by any chance?

2. Thoughts on a 15" wheel on an MCS with the stock suspension? I don't want to look like an off-roader.

3. Thoughts on powder-coating the spokes bronze instead of the stock graphite/silver? (How much does that cost?)

By the way, here is some math I worked on to justify buying some:

Konig Rewind = $100
Kumho Ecsta SPT (205/55/15) = $64
Total = $164 per corner

Replacement 16" Dunlop runflat = $165 per corner

So it's cheaper to get new wheels and tires than it is to just replace the tires! I guess I should add $75 for a compressor/tire repair kit to be fair, but that's still a great deal.

depends on the tires i guess....but the car will most likely look like a 4x4 with stock suspension.

My MC doesn't actually look like a 4x4 right now. I have the stock ride height (Koni FSD's with stock springs), but I'm using 205/50 R15 tires, which has the end effect of lowering the car 1/2". Hopefully tomorrow or this weekend I'll get some pictures of it with the 205/50's.

Yeah, Doc, my suspension's stock. Tire size is posted above (somewhere); 225/50/15, I think?

225's on 15" defientelly make the car look like a 4x4 ... way too wide for a mini ... IMHO

I found some gold Rewinds for Nissans on eBay. Did a little mock-up:

Definitely looks like a 4x4 based on the Mini image from tires.com, but I don't think that is a perfect representation. The wheels look really shiny because they were shot with a flash indoors by the eBay seller. General thoughts on the gold with PW/B, though?

do be aware that the nissan rewinds wont fit our coopers because of their offset. You will have to go get them custom colored that way.

These are on my MCS with stock suspension. There is a little more wheel gap but I don't think I'll be heading off road anytime soon.

Gotcha. These aren't even 4x100 bolt pattern, but I thought I'd use them to mock-up a gold wheel.

Dave - I think you're probably right about the anthracite/graphite being better. Something about a gold or bronze wheel (not so shiny as my mock-up, though) seems like a classic look to me, though...

So I just got back from Discount Tire.

They wouldn't order the Konig Rewinds, since they said "with out a doubt that they would not fit my car". They said that any 15" rims wouldn't fit due to the large diameter brakes on the Cooper S.

What am I missing?

unhappy and confused

I didn't have any clearance issues on my MCS, not sure what they are thinking, it's not even really close. You do need the hubcentric rings but that's no big deal.

got my rewinds here...fast shipping to boot (graphite on sale for $89 per) http://www.good-win-racing.com/mazda/miata/60-1042.html

So a couple of questions, did you use the 73/54 hubcentric rings and did you use your stock lug bolts?

Thanks!

The stock lug bolts worked just fine, and I did have to order the metal hub rings from discount tire direct as goodwin was backordered, (maybe they're in stock by now) you want 73/56.1 size

abbydog3, that's a damn shame. Your local Discount Tire has not a clue; I bought mine from them! Be persistent, or find another shop. Their prices were reasonable. Good-Win has a good price, but you'll still have to pay for mounting and balancing somewhere.

unless you have the JCW brake upgrade...your brakes are the same size as any Cooper. And they will definitely fit. Just tell them you want to order them despite fitment concerns Pretend they are for your MC back at home

Here's one from Saturday that I took at a BMWCCA event.

These next two were taken by Hollis from Motoring Underground

A little more wheel gap in this next one.
