Wheel opinion.

Was walking down the street and saw these in a tire and wheel shop. I really like the look and thought it would look good on my LY/B MCc. This is a Arceo Racing Wheel Suzuka II. Does anyone have any info or opinions on these. All I know is I can get them in 17x7.5, 42 offset.

OOOOOH! Those would look GREAT on my Wanda! I don't know enough about the offset stuff.....but I sure do like them, goaljnky! I like your OEM bullets, too, though!

OK OK
You "both" can have those nice snazzy new wheels.

They look great. Are you sure you don't want to share a set?.
One person gets them on odd days and the other on even days except Holidays and wednesdays after fullmoons but before the jellyfish come out...

All kidding aside. I would love to hear some informed opinions as far as weight, quality, etc.

It's BEFORE the jellyfish come out- because they are stinging box jellyfish
Ouch! Not cool if you are a tourist with exposed skin.

OK. I found some stuff from:
http://www.wheelcomponents.com/arceo.html
First

Suzuka II
Chrome 17x7.5: $179.00
Silver/ML 17x7.5: $115.00
Gunmetal/ML 17x7.5: $125.00
Chrome 18x7.5: $215.00
Silver/ML 18x7.5: $139.00
Gunmetal/ML 18x7.5: $149.00

And second (both look good to me)

Webstar
Chrome 17x7.5: $179.00
Silver/ML 17x7.5: $115.00
Gunmetal/ML 17x7.5: $125.00
Chrome 18x7.5: $215.00
Silver/ML 18x7.5: $139.00
Gunmetal/ML 18x7.5: $149.00

Similar to the MINI webspoke.

These prices are "too low" for the wheels to be true two piece. They are probably gravity casted alloy wheels so weight would be estimated about 19 or 20 pounds each based on (these old examples):
Arceo Eurostar Cast 18x7.5 23.8 pounds
Arceo Megastar Cast 19x8 29.8 pounds

+42mm offset is OK, get 4x100 bolt pattern. Have fun.

It depends what your priorities are. For looks and fit, they're great on LY. For performance, you really need to dig and get the weight. As I remember, the Bullet wheels are the lightest of the OEM wheels. I wouldn't be hard to take a step backward.

Any one know what the bullets weigh? I hear what you are saying. But this is a daily driver. And as a convertible it will probably never see a track. So at this point I am willing to sacrifice a couple of pounds vs. the astetics. Besides, what drew me to these is the fact that it is the first 17 inch rim I have seen with a lip on it. But feel free to show me ohters.

Question rather than answer here: Which one is the "bullet" wheel? Goaljnky's image is a great space saver size, but on my laptop it is hard to see detail of the wheel. I can tell it's a 5 spoke, but not which one. It looks similar to an R83, but might be a convertible-only wheel? Thanks.

Here you go. They are R83.

Thanks for the picture. The R83s look great on your car! You probably want to change because that is what people do.

You mention two factors: use on street and rim lip. Minihune posted some wisdom recently recommending stronger wheels for street use. And half the folks on NAM seem obsessed by lip. Despite alluring press photos lots of wheels seem to lose their lip when made to accommodate the MINI's offset. I favor the rather affordable and aesthetic Koseis, but worry that they are too light for negotiating my city's potholed and torn-up streets (and I have given up on the lip factor).

Good luck finding something for Egguinn.

Thanks for another image. That's the convertible-only wheel. Can it too be the bullet?

Greg67,
Yes. that is the bullet.

morknmini,
Yes, it is the 17" wheel for the cabrio MCS.
R91 5-spoke Bullet ET48 20.6lb (9.4kg) [silver or white]

Nice wheels!

Thanks, again, Minihune (this must be the 4-5th time)!

So Goaljnky's R83 is not the Bullet. The Bullet is the R91 which at 20.6 pounds for 17" rims is considered the lightest OEM MINI wheel. And it is only available on the convertible. Now I know why so many on NAM have switched wheels.

I love the look of the R83 wheel with the MINI's body shape and was hoping it would be the lightweight OEM wheel. No such luck. Guess I too need a wheel plan.

BTW I love to see turf block (in the photo) used where cars park. But it's probably easier to maintain such greenery in Hawaii than just about anywhere else. Sigh. Adventures in paradise.

PS: Those trees don't look much like most images of Hawaii. Must be inland.

The picture was "stolen" from MINI2.com (no shame!)

It's not from Hawaii. We don't have many blue Lorry trucks- see behind the cabrio. And bill board signs are not legal in Hawaii- too ugly I guess.
