Need advice on run flats

Went to my local tire company (Town Fair Tire in Natick, MA) and told them I wanted to purchase a new set of wheels and tires. I have MCS with stock 16" and run flats. I want new set to be 17" with normal tires (non run flats) and the sales guy said he wouldn't do it because of vibration issues. He said I have to use run flats. He said he had a customer with a MCS and that he switch him to non run flat tires and because of the suspension there was vibration problem and he had to switch him back to run flats. Is this possible?

Nonsense, hundreds, if not thousands of us have switched to non run-flats, 15", 16", 17", in fact I regularly switch between all three sizes and both types of tires with ABSOLUTELY NO PROBLEM!

That makes no sense. Plenty of people are using non-runflats on MCSs and there's nothing inherent in the suspension that requires runflats. Maybe his customer had a vibration problem because they didn't balance the tires properly.

They want you to cough up extra bucks for the runflats. Don't fall for it. I have two seperate sets of 17" (Parada's/Kumos) and both are miles ahead in comfort and performance

If the guy with the vibration problem switiched to an aftermarket wheel (as you plan to) while mounting non-run flats and didn't use a centering ring (the Mini wheel is hub-centric) with the new wheels then you will have vibration problems.
