Wheel Fitment

Hello All:

While ad says the below wheel/tire set will fit a 2007 MINI Cooper, perhaps a more knowledgable regular on this Forum could weigh in? They seem to be what we are looking for to replace the 17" wheels on our '07 "S". In a prior thread, we have been told that 16" wheels would fit, but the real question is are there any differences with the prior generation's 16" wheels that would be a problem...

ALSO -- I believe these do NOT have the TPS monitor. Will that cause any codes or flashing lights on our '07? As long as no codes or flashing lights are involved, TPS is something we could live without until replacing the tires when they wear out.

Addendum -- I love these things but ad says they won't fit Is it possible ad is incorrect? https://www.ebay.com/itm/2011-15-MINI-COOPER-16-WHEEL-OEM-RIMS-4x100-CHROME-LOCKS-INC-CAPS-MIRROR-COVERS/302691703130?hash=item4679d4d95a%3Ag%3ApTYAAOSwfXJ aqNHX&_sop=16&_nkw=16+mini+cooper+oem+wheels&rt=nc &_dcat=43953

Thanks in advance for your help

The above are R119 wheels and will fit.

Regarding the TPMS ... what is the build date of your MINI?

Ouch -- they looked perfect and the tires alone are worth a couple hundred. Can I do something with spacers or is it hopeless...

Thanks for the quick reply...

The switch to direct tire pressure monitoring (using data from sensors inside the wheels at the base of the valve stem) did not occur until August 2007. Your MINI has indirect monitoring (using data from the ABS sensors).

I know I am a newby and all, but aren't the above wheels, which a MINI dealer says will fit, the same as the ones I asked about? They sure look to be.

Thanks...

R83 wheels were designed for the 1st Gen MINI and, according to RealOEM, are not authorized for use with the 1st Gen JCW front brakes which are the same size as those on your R56 MCS ...

Thanks. Too bad they are not located closer to me. It would not shock me if a very small spacer would solve the problem -- but I dare not order them from Cali just to test that premise. Oh -- and these will fit, no? https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...er-wheels.html

There are some others that seem to pop up every week or so. Patience is a virtue...

Why 16's? Looking for a better ride?

OEM wheels are heavy. Not only can you improve ride with the non-runflat tires I assume you are going to add, but lighter wheels can really impact the driving experience. Might just look aftermarket.

However, i do also understand the wanting to have OEM wheels too. They 'fit' nice.

Yep — my wife has said after 4 years we need to soften up her Mini a bit. I like stock because I know the fit will be good and usually the cheapest alternative.

When we make the switch I’lll have an awesome set of 17” Enkeis and summer Pirellis to sell. Plus a nice set of winter tires and OEM wheels. If I make some money on the switch we’ll look into new shocks and struts as well

Not sure I would follow the logic that you prescribe... I have a set of x-lite 84 wheels that I use for my R55 Cooper S LCI, and realOEM.com has the same note listed for those wheels. They fit my Clubman just fine, even without spacers.

@minishusband: If you like those wheels, and you think it’s a good deal, just get them. If they don’t fit right, throw them back up on Craigslist and look for something else.

They fit

We put them on this morning with the 195/55 tires -- (a) they fit and (b) the ride/noise is much improved (the Michelin Premier A/S probably had something to do with it though I believe nearly 20% more sidewall and air-cushioning is the much bigger contributor.) My wife is a very happy camper, and I am thrilled we do not need to expensively upgrade the shocks -- which are not original and, according to my mechanic, in fine shape.

Much thanks to all who commented. I do not dispute the "Real OEM website," but perhaps they were just a bit over-cautious.

Special thanks to MINIAC, whose info re the TPS was comforting when the warning light for "Service TPS System" came up 2 miles from my mechanic's shop. Knowing that the absence of TPS in-wheel sensors could not be the cause, I just calmly referred to the owner's manual for the reset directions. Worked like a charm...

Great Forum
