Has anyone heard of this VOLUTION wheel brand? They are being advertised for $499 with tires and balancing. These prices 216.242.145.9//shop//category.phtml?cat=AIR+Wheels seem too cheap to be true. They have some great designs on this site. Here is my favorite...

If, I read it right (you have to look a little further) it is $ 499 each.

I don't know--it specifically says "....package includes four low profile 205/40/17 tires, four Volution Sport Wheels, Mounting on all tires, balancing on all tires, valve stems, and Volutions limited lifetime warrantee on the wheels"

Now whether or not they're crap wheels and tires, I think you'll have to judge for yourself!

It says 4 wheels AND tires! AND the tires and rims are 17" !!! I know that in life you generally get what you pay for, so I am very skeptical. Any fellow members purchase these? Here is the style I like and the web advertised deal....

I just called them, and they do have 4 by 100 pattern (MINI) in stock if anyone is interested. I need to do some more research on this brand Volution....

The tires are Chinese Kuhmo 205/40/17's. I am sure the wheel is made overseas as well. But that price !............

I ordered the VRD-5's in gun metal today. Like the look, especially b/c of the deep dish design. I'll post when I get them. Can't wait.

Don't forget the $120 for shipping...then another $120 for different tires...then another charge for insurance...

I was looking at other wheels on that site...total comes out to 669.99 I believe with not insurance or anything...

wow, Chinese Kumho's now? dang, Chinese copying off of Koreans copying off
of Japanese tires. wow.

Most of those cheap wheels come with very poor paint finish. They look okay
in the beginning but the paint chips real easily especially around the outer
part of the rim (from mounting the tires) and around the lug holes.

Also, 205/40 tires are like rubber bands.

For those of us that live in the NE, ANY wheel has trouble keeping a decent finish with all the sand and crap on the roads. But since this will be a spring/summer/fall whell for me, I'm hoping for the best. Everything else being equal, they're still much less expensive (cheaper?) than anything else out there! Only time will tell if they're worth it. If not, sell them in the hood for half price!
