Tire Pressure Monitors for 2012s

Does anyone know if wheels with tire pressure monitors that worked on an '07 MCS will work on a 2012 MCS? This is a set of Enkei aftermarket wheels and tires (see signature). I just installed the wheels and I get a warning that the system is "inactive" and it will not reset.

The stock wheels with their TPMS worked fine or seemed to. These will go back on in about a month with winter tires. But I would like to know if something changed and I need to get new monitors for the summer setup. Otherwise I will have to chase down what is wrong.

What I hear is they changed the system in the last year or two, so 2007 sensors won't work with a 2012.

Figures BMW would muck with something like that.

Wonder if Tire Rack has the new ones?

There are sensors for 2007-2009 and then a new type from 2010-2012. I ran into the same issue when I tried to use 2009 sensors on my 2010. You'll need the earlier sensors.

I think I need the later sensors - I have a 2012 and the wheels have the earlier sensors.

Is this a size thing or an electrical thing?

I got a pair of Dunlaps at Sears with new sensors.
I guess since they work it's okay but I do get false low pressure readings on occasion.

I think it is a transmitter thing. Don't think the size changed.

I got a set of 4 sensors from tire rack for my 2013 S for $200. You can find the item attached to any of their aftermarket wheels, available as a separate item on a later tab of the info page. I have them on the 16" Bridge Spokes from an '08, so size must be the same.

I've got a set from a 2010 for sale. Haven't put them up for sale here yet, but have them for sale locally via CL. If you have any interest, PM me and I'll give you more details. They came in a set of wheels a friend of mine gave me from his newer MINI.
