Centerline RPM's and runflats Question???
I am thinking of getting a set of Centerline RPM's and want to know if they will work with my 17" OEM all season runflats until I can save the money to get some Toyo Proxes T1-S's.
Do any of you know if they will work together temporarily?

the OEM runflats will work on a standard-style wheel, no special stuff needed
short-answer: Yes
Be prepared to only feel half the difference in rotational inertia; those Goodyear RS-A's are major heavy.

Thanks both of you for your input, I appreciate it. For some reason I thought runflats could only go on specially made rims, it makes since for them to go on any wheel.
Ryan, have you been able to get any WOT sound clicks of your new Milltek exhaust yet. I know everyone here and at Randy's site would love to hear one.

not to scare you or anything, but ive read that some tire places can not
remount used run-flats for some reason due to damage while dismounting.
Check with your tire place before you do the mod. goodluck and
post some picts after you're done.

Well on some cars the flat tire monitor system is integrated into the wheel...on the MINI it is simply checking some of the numbers that that traction control is monitoring...wheel spin....if one tire is drastically spinning at a different rate then the others then it assumes the tire pressure is drastically different and alerts you via the idiot light. In the case of the MINI it isn't that complex of system compared to some other cars and neither the wheels or tires have any affect on it. Now if you were to disable your ASC it may possible effect it.
Also on the tires being remounted, if properlly removed they should not be damaged but many places may refuse to work on runflats. I believe law requires them to have a cage at their facilities in which they mount and remount runflats...this is due to the very very rapid rate at which the tire and fling off the wheel during mounting due to the very stiff sidewalls. Many places don't care and will still do it without a cage, but most of the places that dont' want to mount or unmount runflats is due to the safety issues of working with them while the wheel/tire is not in a cage.

jbing,
Centerline RPMs will work with your Runflats (assuming they are mounted correctly).
You best results will come from using Centerline RPMs with non runflat tires.
If I had to do only rims or tires I'd do tires first. The Centerline RPMs are often backordered.
The centerline RPMs in 17x7 are about 11 pounds lighter than your stock S-lytes (14 vs 25 pounds).
The Toyos are much better riding and grippy compared to the stock runflats.
Anymore Centerline RPM questions?
Here's a picture of my polished RPMs

jbing- polished wheels usually come clearcoated, so you just need
to take care of them as any painted wheel.. like wash, wax, and
keep brake dust build up away as much as possible.
casey- i see. that make sense!

>>Last question, is the polished finish hard to keep looking nice? What do you use to clean and repolish them?
The Centerline RPM rims I have in Polished finish is like a polished alloy/aluminum finish. It is not clearcoated like the silver, white, and anthracite finish found in the same wheel. The polished finish will scratch easily and is only moderately durable. I have had mine for 3000+ miles and they are in good shape with very minor scratches only I know about. I will polish them with Blue Magic Liquid Metal Polish (similar to a polishing compound). Works pretty good.
The specs on the Centerline Excel wheels in 17x7 are exactly the same as the Center RPMs. The finish options are also the same. Depends if you like the 6 spoke or 10 spoke look.

with 40 profile tires I would make sure to check the load rating on them...I'd have to double check what the min load rating for the MINI is, but I know if you toss Alex a PM and ask him he would be able to tell you off hand. If load ratings are fine between the two I would go with the lower profile but there are a few things to keep in mind.
Lower profile tires will increase the chances of damage to a wheel due to a pot hole etc. The lower profile will be a bit rougher of a ride, but with a lower profile tire you get less sidewall flex, smaller diameter(if widths are the same) which will lower the gear ratios a bit...depending on how much smaller the % your speedo will be off will go up or down but I've never minded that as long as I know how much it is off, then just compensate for it.
One note - my post above was slightly incorrect...it isn't the traction control sensors that the tire pressure sensors piggy back on but the ABS sensors.

Casey - I was about to ask you regarding the flat sensor and traction control. Thanks for clearing that up.
sanddan - I am running 215/40/17's on H&R's. As Casey mentioned, the ride is a little rougher, feel most of the roads idiosyncracies to be sure. I just really try and avoid potholes and such.
