I'll preface my comments by mentioning that I ordered all of this from Tirerack and had no problems in that regard. I got everything just as ordered and fast.

I bolted the wheels on yesterday, torqued the lugs to 90, and drove the car to the air pump to get the PSI exactly even. The wheels look pretty rice but don't clash with the lines of the car. I picked them because they were cheap, light, and don't look terrible on the car.

What amazed me was how much heavier the S-Lites with the Eufori@s on them were. Beyond that they felt almost like wagon wheels--hard as rocks and with very little bounce. I handled a few wheels and tires as a kid and never felt any as hard and heavy for their size as that.

The LS5s are supposedly 17.5lbs per rim, and the Blizzaks, despite being snow tires, must be lighter than the Pirellis. I didn't get a MINI for a smooth ride, but I think the fact that these snow tires are giving me a noticably smoother ride than my "performance" run-flats reflects poorly on the Eufori@s.

mcs22004 - your torque setting may be too high. I believe it should be closer to 80, but there is a definitive answer on this forum.

The runfalts are an extremely harsh ride, regardless of the brand. Visualize Fred Flinstone in his car, and poof - you get runflats.

No. I'm pretty sure 90 lbs. is the correct torque for the wheels.

I actually looked this up on this site yesterday before torquing. Everyone seemed to have an opinion, but 90lbs is supposedly spec.

Alex states that the factory spec is 90. If you're really concerned, you might give a quick call to your dealer. I give mine an extra five foot-pounds just to make sure they're good. I've had issues with bolts loosening up on me though...

I'm not concerned. The torque wrench is in the boot and I've been checking the lugs. They're holding right at 90. I'm going to check them in the morning before I leave. If they start to come loose, I'll start worrying.

But back to your point about weight and harshness (not to distract from the fascinating discussion of torque settings ), the problem isn't the Euforis per se but rather runflats in general. All runflats apparently are heavy and harsh...I have the same issues with the Goodyears on my MCS. Also, the stock SLite wheels are VERY heavy. Many folks have found greater satisfaction with non-runflats and aftermarket wheels. Of course, there is that pesky "what if I get a flat" issue...

I'm probably going to end up going down to MINIPeabody to get a Cooper spare, even though $154 is a rip-off. I poked around the the Tirerack site trying to get one of the 15" steel wheels with a small, cheap tire, but I couldn't find it in singles--even though they offer a 15" steelies set for the MINI.

The roads are really bad around here now. 495 is basically destroyed. They tore up a big section in Lawrence months ago and haven't even tried to fix it. It would be foolish to continue to drive it without a spare.

After feeling the tremendous weight of the S-Lites with run-flats, I'll be loath to put them back on the car in the spring. Too bad I haven't found any wheels that I really like on the car or I'd order a set with real performance tires.
