run flats and rims

I'm sure this has been posted before, but we were just wondering? For the future, the car is only a month old. When it comes time for new tires do we have to put run flats back on again, questioning whether we can put reg tires on the rims the run flast are on? Do we need to buy new rims? My hubby is a Michelin fan.

No, you don't have to replace run flats with run flats. Replaced mine with Falkens for a much smoother ride,

what Suzanne said.

many say its one of the best things you can do to really make for a more enjoyable drive! I use non-RFs during the winter months (all-seasons) but my tire selection (eagle GTs) are still pretty stiff tires

You do have to figure out how you're going to handle a flat tire though.

If you have a Justa, you have a compact spare. if you have an S, that's what AAA is for. Losing the runflats is one of the best bang for the buck mods you can make.

Gotta a justa, went out today and dug around in the back, hadne't done that yet, found the smaller cargo net, and the spare. We won't make the change until we need tires.

I read they deleted the spare if you chose run-flats. Apparently not.

My 2¢ - You don't realize how harsh the ride is on runflats until you get rid of them. To each his own.

Just replaced my 17" runflats (terrible tires, whatever they were - little tread left at only 15K miles, and I'm not too wild a driver). Bought Michelin Pilot Sport A/S Plus, 205/45ZR17 88Y at Costco - pricey, @ about $188/ but, yes, quite a difference in ride quality. And, so far (nearly 1K) no mileage penalty at all. Riding bare, without a spare so far; will have to buy some slime and search out a spare. Aloha.[/FONT]
