Anyone wear out your brakes and if so how many miles did you get from the original pads?

 

Fronts wore out at 18k and rears at 26k. Crappy brakes for sure.

 

Did the brake light come on to alert you that the brakes need replacing?

 

No, I didn't let them get that bad.

 

how much pad did you have left when you replaced them? percentage?

 

just had front and rear pads at 28k. rotors were "above spec" (oddly i thought on this car)

 

08 MCS. Frt Pads replaced after 12 months of spirited driving. Glazed Rotors were deglazed. Lite was not on. Rotors were not replaced with the pads. No problem noted since the pads were replaced.

 

My front and rears wear at the same rate - every 38,000 miles. I'm on my third set now.

 

The fronts were replaced on both MINIs last year, the MCS at 8.5k (after a particularly enthusiastic track day) and the MC at 16k. This was per the computer, the light didn't come on, but they were squeeking pretty badly.

The rears still claim to have 8k for both which would put them at 20k (for the MCS) and 30k for the MC.
