A question about EBC "green stuff" brake pads
I've been looking into replacing my brake pads when the original ones wear out, and the Green Stuff ones seem to be exactly what I need for my daily driver car (no track time, no autocross).
I know that they will produce less brake dust and have better stopping power than the OEM pads, but how long will they last compared to the stock brake pads? 1/2 as long? Just as long? Twice?
I only intend to change the brake pads, so the calipers, brake rotors, etc will remain stock.

I'm surprised no one has responded to this, as it would seem that this is the single most popular brake pad change on the MINI. I would guess that they last approximately the same length of time or possible a shade less. You might want to ask Randy on his fancy new site. Look under Garage at webbmotorsports.com.
I can't tell you how long they'll last - I am happy with them from a dust and "feel" standpoint though. Have had the Helix Stage 1 brake kit on since early summer (that does include slotted rotors, as well as lines and the Greenstuff pads)
I have heard that the Greenstuffs will wear out before stock...

I wouldn't be surprised at all if the Green Stuff pads lasted a shorter time than the stock ones. After all, less dusting and better stopping power would be a logical tradeoff for reduced durability. The question, of course, is how much less  At $60 or so I can afford a pair for the front, no problem, maybe even four for every brake.
Of course, if they wear out like in 10k miles, that isn't so good for the wallet, hehe.
I'll try asking Randy on his website.

EBC's usually provide equal lifespans to that of oe, and as low as 80% of OE lifespan. Its a function of how your brakes are being used. If you tracked a set of greens, you could potentailly go thru them in 1 school on a brake happy course (blackhawk farms)

I have an 04 mcs. Put on ebc greens both f&r at about 800 miles, stock rotors. So far 2200 miles and MUCH less dust. Stopping power seems not much better than oem pads but then I haven't been working them hard. Can't say how long they'll last. If they wear out too fast I may try the ebc reds as I have seen some good report postings on them as well'
Sombody please teel me about the newer cars with the wear sensor wire to the pads...do the greenstuff pads have them yet? How do you handle that situation?

Your car just keeps getting hotter, Bisch! Love the sig!
As far as the sensor wire goes, from what I understand, only the greenstuff fronts have the cutout for the sensor. But here's what you do: forget about the sensor! The Ferodos don't have a sensor spot, so when I put my new pads on, I just zip-tied the wire to the brake line to keep it out of the way. I wouldn't wait for the sensor to tell me that I needed new pads anyway. Just look down at the pads every once in a while. As long as there is more compound than there is backing, you're fine. Once the compound starts to get thinner than the backing, it's time to start selling CDs and order yourself some new pads!
