DIY BBK install (pics only for now)

Ok, I don't have enough time to do a full write up yet, but here are all the pictures in a logical sort of order.

NO SPACER!

I am running a 2.5mm anyway just for extra clearance, but the R99s DO clear without a spacer

Weights

13" x 0.95" !

Both Caliper brackets

ALL the hardware

Total weight is 4.8 + 14.94 + 2.2 + 1.0 + .8 = 23. 74lbs (I'm figuring the bags weigh AT LEAST .12-.16lbs ;p )

My VERY worn OEM rotors weighed 11.25 lbs, I figure new weighs at least 11.5...so you're gaining a bit of rotational mass 3.5lbs per side actually. OEM caliper + bracket + pad backing plates (pads were GONE ) weighed 9.2 lbs figure with new pads and the bolts add it to at least 10. And the dust shield weighs .4lbs

So all in all OEM weighs a minimum of 21.9 when new...round that to 22, round me to 23 3/4 and I gained 1.75lbs per side, IMO a worthwile trade for never needing to worry about whether my brakes can handle a track day again.

Hopefully I finish this write up someday

M Zero good job on the write up. Your How-To's are always really detailed and always have great pictures. BTW I want your R99 wheels.

The BBK's look great. I'm sure the performance will be more than noticeable!

Haha, thanks...the write up is barely done, but I figure picture = 1000 words. So in the mean time until I actually write something this is better than nothing. As for the R99's thanks, I actually saw your R99 thread.

I like these wheels a lot, they were on the car when I bought it...but they are 21.5 lbs each. So eventually they'll probably become my DD wheels and I get another set of something in the 14-15lb range for a 17x7.5 for track/autox/planned spirited drives

As for performance of these brakes, I know they will be good. Right now with the Wilwood BP-10 pads that are on it is actually quite similar to stock, which is nice. A very gradual pedal feel, no noise, much lower dust than stock. On the initial break-in though Todd told me to use the Poly-B's that I got with the kit as well...and whoa! Pretty amazing. The biggest thing with BBKs is not that they stop you faster (cause they normally don't) but that you can't stop fast consistently...and I have definitely noticed that with these, even with the BP-10s

Last question, which kit. Mine is the TCE Plus 3 kit that comes with the wilwood FSL caliper. Mine do have the powdercoating option, I also opted for the wider rotor. A little ways down this page: http://www.tceperformanceproducts.co...s.pl?record=13

what did you do to change the lines? did you de-tach and then plug? I think that's the only part of the install im curious about/trickiest part.. everything else is fairly straight forward.

The hose kit is a "plug and play" replacement for the stock hoses. A no brainer.
