what offset?

I'm looking at some 16x7 or 16x8 wheels and want to know what offset I should go with? I want them flush with the fenders. Tires will have a little stretch to them

How close to the fender to do you want to go? still tucking or maybe a little poke? How serious of a stretch will you be running? Any camber?

On the 16x8 et35-40 would be a nice offset to line them right up to the fender....stretch a nice 205/40 or maybe a 205/45 on there and you should be golden

Stretching on a 7" is a little harder due to limited sizes.....offset of et32 should suffice if you go with a 16x7

juuuuust a bit of poke. I don't want a huge amount of stretch. On my jetta i was running 18x8s up front with 225/40/18 & 18x9s out back with 235/40/18 and they were gorgeous....

I think a 16x8 et35-40 will be perfect for what you're looking for....35 will poke just a tiny bit, 40 would tuck a bit more.

I'd still stick with a 205 to stretch on the 8's....it's subtle, but nice.

(good to see another dubber looking for some wide stance and a little stretch around here )

16x7 with +40 offset would be fine.

Do you have plans to lower your MINI?

If so then a slightly less tall tire would be good for more clearance-
205/50-16 is good and will fit wheels up to 7.5" wide.

If not and stock suspension is all you need then-
205/55-16 is good to 7.5" wide rims. 225/50-16 can be used since it is the same tall 24.9" tire diameter and fits rims up to 9" wide.

In the case of 16x8 the +35, +37 or +40 will work as stated. If you don't want to use spacers for more clearance then +35 offset might be better.

The 225/50-16 tire is pretty aggressive.

Dunlop Direzza Sport Z1 Star spec comes in all these sizes-
205/50-16 $107 each 22 lbs
205/55-16 $104 each 24 lbs
225/50-16 $119 each 26 lbs
200 treadwear

For comparison of prices and weights.

Thread edited: Comments removed about stretching tires onto 16x8 rim. (Thanks Rally).

yahhh.....no.

205/50/16 won't really stretch on a 16x8 at all due to the sidewall.....it will provide very little additional clearance for the offsets that have been suggested. As I said earlier....if you're gonna be running 16x8 et35-40 you will want either 205/40 or possibly 205/45 if you're worried about staying closer to the stock diameter. I would not recommend the 205/50-16 for stretching with those lower offsets because they will rub/hit the arches (when lowered)

Also, the Dunlop Direzza's do not stretch well compared to other available tires (I've tried ). I'm sure you know this already since you've been around the scene....but you will want to stick with toyo, falken, federals, and SOME dunlops if you're looking for some decent stretch without going with super skinny tire sizes.

haha small world....I had that first pic as my background for a while . I know some people aren't fans....but I love a well done "getta"

There's chance of dish...I've got close to 3 inches of lip and there are a few people running 9's right now in the rear which gives a nice opportunity for lip
