Compatibility of '02-'06 wheels with '07+?
Compatibility of '02-'06 wheels with '07+?
I believe I read somewhere about there being differences between the way early and late MINI wheels fit. Maybe it had to do with the pressure sensing modules? And perhaps some differences in the way they locate relative to the lug bolts?
I really like S-Lites and would like to know if I can consider them as summer wheels for my '08 MCS.
Thanks in advance for any info.

That is 100% incorrect.
The bolt pattern has not changed it is still 4 x 100
What did change is the dia of the lug bolts. In 07/06 The grew 2mm in dia to 14mm from 12mm.
Many wheels will fit both. There is no hard and fast list at this time best thing to do when looking is to ask if a 14mm bolt will fit.
Thanks very much! I appreciate every response.
I seem to recall there is also something about the valve stems, isn't there? I think the early MINIs were not fitted with tire pressure sensors. Yes/no? And perhaps there is no room for the sensor assembly in some wheels? And/or maybe you have to use a different valve stem diameter or length than late model MINI wheels? Is this also a non-problem with older OEM wheels?
And finally (I've been reading so much about MINIs lately that it's all a blur), I got the impression that there may have been some sort of chamfer change at the hub -- at least that MINI wheels locate to the axis of rotation differently than most other cars (I think to reduce shear load at the lug bolts). But was there any change from year-to-year in MINIs?

Oem wheels will fit all years but as Gnatster mentioned the July 06 > changed to 14.150mm bolt size and very few aftermarket wheels accept that width bolt as I discovered with my 2006 JCW (July production) new 14mm size, all Sportmax wheels accept 14mm bolts

I am a Mini rookie, so please bear with me. I'll do some more looking at the forum, but ...
I've got a stock '07 with the 15 inch wheels. Would like to upgrade.
I've been talking with somebody who has a set of 17" standard OEM MINI S-Lites, off of an '05 model.
As I understand it, the bolt pattern is the same, but the diameter of the lug bolts has been increased from 12 to 14 mm. To that end, I understand that the factory wheels from an '05 will fit my '07. Aftermarket wheels may or may not fit the larger lug bolts.
Will the factory 17x7 rim fit the '07 without rubbing ? Is the offset okay, and would I need spacers to make them work ? And what's a good size for that rim, something that is similar in size to the default wheels / tires ? I can read about tires, as I have seen lots of comments.
And comes the issue of the TPS. Can I fit a TPS monitor on the older rim ? I assume that I cannot turn off the TPS functionality ???
Many thanks !!

As far as tire size goes, 205/45/17 would be OE dimensions and would have the least possibility of any issues with rubbing or tread deformation.
