Brake pad sensor waring light....
Brake pad sensor waring light....
Anybody know how, or if, the idiot light can be cleared after an install of a BBK? I'm assuming the new pads don't have the sensor within the pads...
For the 1st Gen

Heres how to reset any and all service lights in the 2nd Gen
Entering Service Menu:
Insert key
Do not press clutch / brake
Press start button
Wait until car / relevant service symbol disappears from tach upper display
Press and hold both tach buttons immediately after symbol goes out
Continue to hold both buttons until time appears in tach upper display
Before this occurs:
* An Instrument light check will be performed(cool light show!)
* "VIN / Menu" will appear in tach lower display
Release right tach button
Wait about a second
Press and hold right tach button again while still holding left button
After a second or two the front brakes symbol will show in the tach upper display
You are now in the service menu
Resetting Service Indicator:
Press and release OBC Button until relevant symbol (eg. oil change, brakes) appears in tach upper display
Press and hold OBC Button at relevant symbol until "RESET" appears in tach lower display
Press and hold OBC button again until process is complete
Remove key and re-insert.
Done!

One note - if the brake pads have worn down enough to activate the brake-wear warning, that can't be reset until you've replaced the wear sensors. The sensors are sacrificial parts and have to be replaced once they've tripped.
If you switch to pads that don't have the provision for the sensors, you can leave the sensors connected and just zip-tie them somewhere out of the way. (Although you'll still have to replace any sensors that have tripped).

That's right
