? for tire setup on 18's
? for tire setup on 18's
Hello everyone I am a newbie here. My wife has had her 2005 Mini Cooper Chili for about a year now and it's about time to get some wheels. I am looking at getting some 18's but would like to run a bigger tire setup than 215/35/18 I ahve seen a person with a yellow mini running 225/40/18 I have also seen 225/35/18. My question is will the other two give me problems as far as rubbing issues. I am planning on lowering with M7 springs. Any suggestions would be gladdly accepted. my goal is to get a good ride but actually a safe ride for the 18's cause I know that the thinner tire could get a lot of damage to the rim. thanks again.

I had 215/35/18 lowered with eibach's and the ride was harsh to say the least on my stock 02 struts, the stock replacement size is 205/40/18, but a lot go with 215/40/18 with no rubbing issues, I've just ordered a set of 215's but I'm only lowered on facotry JCW suspension now. Try playing with this link ( enter stock size first 205/45/17) and see what you think,

It will work. I have done 40's and now do 35's but I didn't have a problem with either. But I would bet the ride isn't for most people. When I give people rides I make shure to tell them stock MINI's ride much smoother. I like it when the car feels like a machine and not so refined.

Shouldn't be a problem. I will have 215/40/18 on 7.5" rim with a 42mm offset with JCW suspension
