yes paint and yes quite ballsy. but i did it because they were chipped up. i plan on getting them powder coated whenever i find someone who does it. but hey thanks for the compliment

Yeah, 17's. We had the OEM 17's so just kept the same size. I wanted a little wider tire but the wife vetoed!!!

you got to love rpf1 s on a mini. can you guys chime in on how they feel and perform on the car? does your mini feel any quicker after dropping the heavy stone wheels off the car.

My look is very low-key... trying to maximize the lines of the car that I love... the beltline and angle of the roof, hence the painted arches and dark tinted windows. I wanted something to tie the wheels more into the car, so I went for a very light bronze with a silver flake... the slight amount of brown in the centers draws off the cream in the PW paint nicely. As with most metalics, it looks better in person, but the second photo shows the effect fairly well, I think.

It's hard to see, but I did the insides of the wheel in a chocolate brown with a hard gold flake... stunning when the light hits it just right!

 

Ooo sounds cool agranger Any pics that show the brown interiors? I was thinking about doing the same thing to match my bodycolor

 

Perhaps this is a stupid question, but if I change rims and tires will I be doing anything that will void any part of my factory warranty?

 

Honestly, 99% of the time, you just see darkness in there... only when the light hits the wheels just right do you notice the gold flake at all... all you really see of the inside is a dark color, which is nice vs. the factory light grey. Given the hassle and expense of doing the barrel powdercoat, were I to do it all over again, I'd be tempted to leave 'em and just color the centers or maybe rattle-can the interiors with a flat black high-temp paint. Maybe if I had popped a red color through it would have been cool, but it would have to be pretty bright to be noticeable. I'll admit that the webspokes aren't a very open wheel... maybe on a 18" aftermarket wheel with narrow spokes it would have been a better effect.

Honestly, I'm happy with the dark color on the inside as it won't show the brake dust as much! :D

As long as it's a standard wheel/tire choice, I don't see any real problem. If you went with something very extreme (22") or a design with no air flow, you might hit some hang-ups with brake temps or suspension wear and tear. If the offset was changed dramatically, I might even see a possible wear issue with the ball joint, but that would be going pretty far.
