R90 16" vs R90 17" - differences and pictures

Anybody have pictures of comparing each of these wheels side to side on a mini? The 16" is a one peice wheel while the 17" is two correct? I think I read that the 16" was 20lb and the 17" was 24lb?

Is there a quality difference. Are they both available in silver with polished lip?

Thanks,
k

You are correct, the 16" is one piece an the 17" two piece.

I'm pretty sure only the 17" had the polished lip.

16" R90 wheels are OK and basic. They have the spoke design and look similar to the R90 17" wheels seen in the movie Italian Job.

16" R90s are one piece and only come in silver finish. Weight about 20.9 lbs. Finish is similar to other stock MINI wheels

http://www.wheelspecs.com/specs/wheelmodels/1695

17" R90s add bolts, the polished lip and come in several different finishes like silver or anthracite. they are also much more expensive and they do weigh more- 24.1 pounds each is about right.

17" R90 wheels are fairly common. 16" R90s are uncommon.

Heres a similar

I liked the R90 wheels but thought they would be very pricey, and used at that. So I found these. They are 17 also and made by Drag, they are the DR-19 model.

weight

I looked a little this morning and didn't see a weight on any sight. I guess we'll have to email or call to find out. Those rims look great on your car by the way.

The Drag DR-19 should be able to be found locally because Discout Tire sells them. Also they are only $100 each through them and you would not have to pay shipping. Tax yes but no shipping. I have looked at pictures side by side and the DR-19 looks really good.

Very nice find.

Anyone know if the center cap size is the same or would custom mini center caps need to be made?

The wheels on my MINI are more than likely the same as the Drag wheels you a looking at. Mine are branded under the EXEL name, but look identical.

Has any one here ever bought the Drag brand? Just curious as to the overall quality, for a cheap rim.

i hear good things from the honda crowd about drag wheels, suppose to be better quality than rotas. checked at the drag site and it doesn't list offset or weight, i emailed them a while ago but no response. so probably have to rely on vendor info... so did you pick anything out k h d?

A local rice shop carries Drags, the silver dr-19 are out of stock, new delivery should be there by the end of the month. They are ordering them without me paying for them, so I can check them out before I buy them.

I am glad I waited for a little. The guy on ebay that sells the R90 replica's has dropped his price. Its nice to have a stock offset and hub size w/ out the need for hub centric rings.
