wheel lug nuts
wheel lug nuts
shop is telling me my aftermarket rims require special lug nuts, that mini's use strange ones
this normal?
I was hoping I could put slicks on my stock rims, and not have to carry the OEM lug nuts along too

Yep, may need a special tuner lug nut to fit SOME wheels if your car is a 2006 1/2 or 2007 model.
If the wheels have a small bolt hole you will need a special 14mm x 1.25 tuner lug, or do a lug bolt change over. The price is about the same either way. I went the special lug bolt route.
But, not all wheels would require the special bolts, it depends on how the wheel is made. I just replaced the ones that I had on my car, and I'm able to use the stock lug bolts.
If the bolt holes are completely seperate, then more than likely you'll need the special bolts. Click on my link below and you'll see what I mean by "completely seperate". These are the wheels that I have removed that required the specail bolt.
I the wheel lug area is open like say the ASA wheels shown above, you may be alright with stock lugs.

I'm on my sixth set and the car is a year old last month. I have two other sets in the garage that have never been on the car.
did you buy from Tire Rack? They should include whatever you need to install. They show those wheels working on the R56 so at worst, you might need a thinwall socket for your stock 14mm bolts to install.
Actually Discount Tires sell a lot of wheel brands that aren't listed on their web-site. They can get just about any major brand you are interested in, and they "claim" they will not be undersold. I'm not sure however, that they can get ASA Wheels. I know they can get Axis Wheels which aren't listed on their web.

I put my Panasports on the R56. Because of the small holes in the wheels, I used TSW adapter studs, 14mm at one end and 12mm at the other. Also needed 5mm spacers for the front because of the wider calipers.
