Space saver spare and JCW brakes

I have switched to non-runflat tires and aftermarket rims. I don't want to carry a full size spare. Which space saver spare tire will be compatible with jcw brakes or even r56 mcs brakes?

You only need it to fit the rear of the car, which uswes standard S rotors, just JCW pads. If you get a flat in the front put the rear tire on the front and use spacesaver on rear. It might be a pain, but I don't think you'll get a spacesaver to fit over the JCW brakes.

Thanks for the reply! I was hoping someone had found a space saver from a vehicle of a different manufacturer that would clear the jcw/r56 front brakes. I guess that isn't the case. So, would you recommend a 14 or 15in. space saver? I'm thinking about a space saver from Honda.

I have just been told by a dealer that the MINI compact spare does not fit over the rear brakes of an R56 Cooper S. Is that true?

This link shows the same rotor size in the rear for the Cooper and Cooper S so I would assume the Cooper compact spare would fit the rear of the S.

The MINI compact spare fits fine on the rear of the R56 S. If you have LSD, you should never put the compact spare on the front wheels. If you get a flat in the front, take a rear tire & move it to the front, and put the space saver spare on the rear.

Thanks, but why is there a connection between LSD and using a compact spare on the front?

In an old thread, it was stated that the space saver tire for the MINI is a 4x100, 115-70-15", which should be inflated to 61 psi. Another thread said that Classic has about the best pricing for these, AND that they offer a discount to NAM members.

The LSD doesn't like being driven continuously with one wheel going much
faster than the other one. the spare spins 13-14% faster than a stock tire
when going straight, which is like going around 35 foot radius corner constantly.

Now that makes sense - I guess the LSD would try to limit the slip and end up pulling the car towards the side with the spare. Thanks for the explanation.
