All the above options has been looked at, but first and foremost, performance
was and is, the over riding criteria. The powder coat is tried and true, giving
a strong and lasting protection from the enviroment.

As I mentioned previously, if a non coated unit is prefered, please call on Tuesday so I can add the non coated units to our initial order.

In the future, I will order a small amount of non-coated units to have available in stock.

We also do have capability to polish and or media blast these parts, for a small
surcharge. As for price of said treatment, I have to make a few calls next week to get the numbers.

If the powdercoating adds cost to the part then why would the bare USS cost the same? Also, who are these 99% of MINI owners you speak of that prefer black?

I get no break in buying a few bare parts.....sorry

And that's why we are going black, as you can never make everyone happy....

If the alternatives are brighter colors, then I'm definitely in the group that prefers black...in fact, 100% of the MINI owners in this house.

Personally, I prefer structural/underbody bits to be as invisible as possible - I'd rather this sort of thing be dark gray and matte.

I have a Moss SS skid plate laying around at the shop. The next time I am up on the lift I will check it out. Should be this week sometime.

Made a point to go to the shop today to finally put the issue of the skid plate to rest . There is NO problem using the Moss/ Cobalt skid plate with our Under Strut System. I was just going to hold it up to see how it looked but had some questions of my own so I figured I would just take the time and effort to go ahead and install the skid plate.I haven't been running my plate for about a year now but today looked as good as any to put it back on. No effort spared for our NAM members As you can see the plate fits perfectly. The skid plate uses two of the same mounting holes as the front of our strut . The plate goes underneath our strut with no issues and although close there is no modification needed. The strut actually assists in securing the back of the skid plate far better than just the two bolts. Feel free to post and comments or questions .

Hi Randy...

Did you think about using tubing to resist flex? Looks like a good part at a good price.

We have been looking further into the anodizing verses powder coat situation and after reviewing our material and talking to several people have decided to reverse our position and go with anodizing. The parts are precision fit and there could be a assembly problem down the line had we gone the powder coat route . We have chosen black as the color for the system to go along with the "stealth" fans .The anodizing will be more expensive on our end but we have already established a price and taken orders. With this being the case we feel it would not be inappropriate to raise the retail price so think of it as a late XMAS present and the cost will remain $ 329.

I glad that you are happy with the product so far. Wait till you actually get it installed LOL . We are working on the install instructions as we speak and they will be published on the site on monday. We did not want to hold up shipping and had hoped to have the instructions complete today but everything does not always work out according to plan. IF you want you can always give me a call and I can talk you thru it , its not that difficult. In any event thanks forthe support and here is a picture of the 2 out of 3 pieces of the finished product .

Cool!

I'm still trying to figure out the splitter. I will call you at the end of the week, so I can get them both installed next Saturday.

I haven't purchased the USS, but I'm particularly interested after reading about how it stiffens up the convertible, so I perused the instructions. Everything seems simple enough, except on page 4, it states, "Do not use the included washers" for the rear brace, but nowhere later in the manual are those washers used at all. Randy, may I trouble you to clarify the situation? I realize the manual was probably written hastily (though the inclusion of excellent photographs were particularly helpful) in order to help everyone who has received the first shipment of the USS, and I thank you in advance.

Did any convertible owners get in on the first run of the USS? I'd be interested to hear how your experience compares or contrasts to the observations in the vendor announcement here.

I'm not a vert owner but I'm going to try and get it installed today, if I can get in at my buddies place. I'll try and test it out on a curvie road then let you know how it does. I have a feeling it's going to the one mod that brings everything together with the rear suspension and tighten up the front a bit. =)
