Camber plate noise and higher ride height

I just had koni yellows and Webb camber plates installed. After the install, the ride height in front has risen a good 3/4", maybe a full inch. There is also quite a lot of noise from the front struts when turning the wheels. Camber is set to -2.2 in front. I have HR springs. Randy indicated a 4mm raise in front ride height is normal, but this is way beyond that. Has anyone else had noise or ride height issues?

May be camber settings...

I have h-sports and RDRs. The ride height is up as well, but how much I dont' know. It also looks like I can ajust the camber so that the springs are banging into the shock tower (strut tower?). Also, the unit rotates during turning, so watch out if some parts stick out more than others, they may rotate into the tower. Another common place for noise is if the top nut of the strut is loose.

Hope this helps, and wasn't a waste of your time.....

Matt

I've got the Webb plates with Koni Yellows and H-Sports as well but I installed them all together, so I don't know what the difference in ride height was. The front does look significantly higher than the rear though, so I'd imagine I'm in the same boat as you.

What type of noise is it that you get? On mine I get a minor clunk here and there (yes I have checked the torque of the top nut) until I hit a pothole, then all hell breaks loose. Comfy is something that these plates are not.

I normally hear the noise when going slowly, turning the wheel, like going into a driveway or such. It sounds like something hitting and rubbing. However it is not consistant. As soon as I get some time I will jack up the front end and see if I can find contact areas.
I was told these plates raise the front end 8mm (a little less than 3/8"). I still think that is less than the actual amount my front end has been raised. Perhaps the amount changes depending on which springs are installed.
At this point I am not sure of the solution, but the new ride height is not something I am happy with.

I also have the RDR camber plates and the Hsports. Mini mania has a spacer for the rear. I think they are 1/2". Not sure if you wanted to raise the rear to match the increase ride height in the front, but may be an option. Mine is also about 1/2" to 3/4" higher in the front. I might go back to the stock spring in the back to increase the height in the rear. We'll see how this combo rides. The Hsport is soft in the front and the stock rear springs may compliment the front or it may make the handling worst. Only one way to find out.

I don't want to raise the rear, as I think that is a bad solution. I got the HR springs to get the lowest CG. I added the camber plates for the adjustability to make the best use of the suspension. Having a design for the plates that raises the ride height seems counterproductive to their purpose. I think the only viable option is to have the plates machined so they don't increase the ride height, (I would like to see Randy take the lead in determining how to do this) or swap out the Konis for coilovers to adjust the ride height back down.

I agree that raising the car is counter productive, but I like the camber plate more than keeping the lowered right height. But I agree that the coilovers are the solution. My next purchase.

...it would be great to read a couple of responses from a few of our vendors; A little extra noise is not uncommon with suspension tweaks. however, camber plates that raise ride height 1/2"-3/4" is an unwanted - I would say - affect.

This leaves coilovers as the only option with which to remedy this??? And I thought I just figured out my spring and damper componenets.
