Mechanic sent pic and now I have little faith

Hello folks.

i went to R&R all suspension with Bilstein b6 and h&r sport (green lowering)

I attempted the job myself but feared shearing bolts after heat and pb blast didn’t help.
so I left it with a local Indy.

They did the rear no problem.
The front one punch bolt did break and they replaced with new OEM that I supplied.

Then the send me this pic (1st below)…saying “the coils dont have the rubber mounts.” They put the original coils on the new shocks.

The second pic are the front coils for reference.

The good news is with all new hardware, I’m fully confident I can resolve if I know why they didn’t install them.

Pease advise.

??? The new coils replace the original coils, replace the original spring rubbers to the new shocks and springs? Has this guy never done a shock and spring swap before? Whatever isn’t included with the new springs and shocks gets reused from the original set up.

Thanks for the feedback.

If the OEM Coils fit in the new shocks- why don’t the new coils?
I’ve checked, double and triple checked that these are the correct parts for the application.

This weekend I’ll just do it myself.

Send me the part number on box and the part numbers on each spring. I can hit up H&R and just to make sure they did not mix up the springs i the box.

Its a straight up swap.

Those are for the 2002 only R50 MINI before the changed the suspension changed over those are marked on the fits 2002 R50 only. let me see what the actual structural difference. These are ones for your MINI https://www.ecstuning.com/b-h-and-r-...s-set/50416-2/

I am talking to them to see the differences and if it matters and if the springs marked match up.

Thats our ebay store.

I appreciate that.
I take it that the rear springs are okay?

Not certain how to move forward. Maybe we take this conversation offline?

Hello,

Got info back from H&R and that spring is specific to the R50 2002 models, spring rates and the one pair of springs are dimensional different due to the suspension change of the early years. You would have to order the correct ones I linked above and return those.

2002 R50 only: https://www.ecstuning.com/Search/SiteSearch/50416-1/

2005 MCS for you: https://www.ecstuning.com/b-h-and-r-...s-set/50416-2/ these are on BO right now. Other options: https://www.ecstuning.com/Mini-2005-...nsion/Springs/

Thank you for the support! Truly appreciated!

Looks like I’ll run on the old coils for now and wait for the H&Rs to come out of “back order” status.
