I've just bought an F56 JCW as a daily driver, and the first mod I want to do is to reduce the enormous amount of wheel gap the car has!

Car is 100% road car only - I've got my old R53 for track use

I've seen a few images of cars dropped on H&R springs, which seems like the ideal ride height for me - but I also read that these springs are too low for the stock dampers and it runs on the bump stops all the time?

Is that correct?

I notice that the Eibach ones only lower by about 15mm, whereas H&R are 30-35mm?

Any users of H&R springs able to comment?

I was always worried about the sag on springs with the stock setup too and went the coilover route. (Bilstein B14s)

Over here, NM springs are popular but I havent heard anything negative about H&R

Did you order your JCW? Why not have them install a JCW coilover system in it?

 

I would do JCW coilovers with 18X8 TD 1.2 pro race wheels and 225/40 tires That setup looks awesome in my opinion.

 

I have the jcw coilovers best thing I did.

 

I will second this. Transformed the car.

 

I would check out the KW V2 we've done these a few times and they seem to ride a little better than the JCWs, but like the adjustable valving and really bring the sports car feel back to the new F MINIs.

For just lowering springs only I've been pretty happy with the Craven springs as they still ride well and cost effective. Never been the H&R fan as they just loose too much travel

I'm installing a set of BC Racing coil overs w/camber plates Thursday. If I'm happy with them I'll have a set of OEM Sport Suspension shocks and struts with NM springs for sale. Front struts will already be assembled.
I've been happy with the NM springs, but my plan from the beginning was to replace them with coil overs when I could afford it.

 

Yes, but the H&R drop it more than they say and loose too much.

 

I just installed the H&R and the drop is exactly what they say!!
Maybe you're thinking R56?

 

Looks fantastic!! Wanting to do the same to my F54... any idea what the impact is on the manufacturer's warranty when lowering?

Looking into Cravenspeed or NM springs to lower. Couple of questions for input. When on road trips, I carry a full spare, luggage, wife. Some states (like Missouri and Oklahoma) have some of the worst roads...we also load up at Total Wine & More, bird seed (about 80 lbs.) plus groceries once a week or so. Our nearby city does not have speed bumps, the signs actually say "speed humps" and the are as wide as a MINI is long. Just have concerns about the shock/suspension travel, bottoming out. Any experiences? Thanks.

 

Drive it for a few months. We always find them sag out of spec. That has been my experience with all the H&R MINI springs. So I don't expect the F56 ones to be any different. Some people actually like it being lower so I just like to inform them that is usually the case.

 

I know we're discussing the F56 but is there anything yet available for the F54?

With the Craven any "bumpstops" (or new tech term), camber (rear tire wear), or boots considerations?

 

I hope so!! My fronts are 1/2" higher, been measuring them the last month, still won't sag!!

 

9 months. no sagging!!

 

Bilstein B14 PSS Coil Overs...about $950...but down the road (literally) you can readjust the ride height as you want. I haven't even lowered them to the bottom setting. Best thing is the Perch sits above the tire...better clearance.

 

this is the look I’m going for. I have the same wheels and tires. How do you like the Bilsteins for daily driving? I drive 25,000 miles a year or so. I was told they rattle at highway speeds but that information is based off the R56. Your thoughts?
